My family was refused service because of our perceived race.
You said lighthearted, though. I had a bartender that fixed me a drink, but right before he handed it to me, he paused and said, "I think I need this more than you" and guzzled it.
Maybe he did.

My husband and I once went to a restaurant where we were promptly seated. The place wasn't busy at all. We waited for a waitress for about 10 minutes, when the host seated a couple at a table next to ours. We asked him about service, and he said someone would be right with us. About 5 minutes later, a waitress came and took the order from the people who had just been seated and walked away, without so much as looking at us. We just kind of stared at each other and decided to go to another restaurant. As we were walking out the door, the host stopped us and asked whether we were going to pay our bill.

I was in Macy's and I ask for help with my registry. I was dressed very causal and the lady looked me up and down and was said "I AM WORKING ON A BRIDE'S REGISTRY". I explain to her that I was also a bride and she freaked out and told me "I WOULD HAVE TO COME BACK AND THIS WAS VERY IMPORTANT." Yeah the girl was changing stem wear and the old hag couldn't get off her butt for two mins to get me a scanner.
I went down stairs to complain and the store apologized and said the woman who was suppose to be working called in sick and no one there knows how to run the registry so the old hag yelling at me really didn't have a clue on what she was doing but didn't want to tell me. They told me she was always a problem and they were having problems getting rid of her due to the fact she used her age as an excuse. I was pretty pissed they didn't do anything about it but I haven't seen her in there since so maybe they did finally get rid of her.

The worse store service I've got overseas.
In Paris, tourist shops have people at the door. When you come in they give you a basket and they FOLLOW YOU AROUND! Not to help you, but to make sure that you don't steal anything. I felt so offended that I left and I have not one souvenir from Paris. All stores are like that. The ones that don;t have the people that follow you, they have something else...they have their merchandise CHAINED !!! So if you want to buy something you have to ask a cleck that has a key to the lock. And then they say why french people are considered rude.
In Argentina (the french people of latinamerica) I was shopping for purses. In Argentina people are not allowed to touch the merchandise or leave alone, try oy on. You have to look at it and then ask a sales person to give show it to you or give it to you. With the lesson learned (after being yelled at numerous times) I went to this store and was looking for the price tags for the purses, there was a sales person with a huge ladder re-stocking the shelf and almost knock me down with it!!! I almost fell, so I simply left. -it gets better- One of the sales people went after me down the street, stopped me and told me: So you couldn't find anything in our store for you? If you want cheap crap you can find it in the shady street market over there! I was shocked and offended!!! THE NERVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good luck

It was at department store ~ my son and I were wanting to buy new basketball shoes. We stood around the basketball shoe section, trying to figure out sizes and styles while the two clerks on duty were flinging a ball back and forth for about 5 minutes. I finally asked "Can we get some help here?" and was told "Can't you see we're in the middle of a game?"

The other day me and my friends went out for wings. We waited 20 minutes before a waitress even came to our table
Went down the street where they also had wing night. We snatched a table where people were just finished eatings their wings. We waited about 15 minutes and requested that the waitress take the gross eaten wings off the table. We then asked if we could order drinks and she said "can't you guys just go to the bar - I'm busy!"
We asked another waitress and told her what our "waitress" said and she was very sorry!

I went to McD's to get a surprise breakfast for my husband at work and for me so I could eat with him. The chick on the intercom could barely speak English. I said repeatedly "4 sausage and egg McMuffins, a large Diet Coke and a large iced tea." She kept asking me if I was sure I wanted 4 sandwiches. Yes! Then she'd ask why I wanted 2 drinks. I finally had to say that I was taking breakfast to my husband so we could eat together. Then she asked me if I wanted the value meal or hashbrowns. NO! 4 McMuffins and 2 drinks.
I did get the right order, but my head was spinning when I left McD's. I laughed all the way to his work wondering what the he** just happened!

My wife wanted to share a banana split with me and she was telling the the lady the ice cream she wanted...the lady was adamant that it was just the standard flavors. My wife said but I don't want that. So she just cancelled the order. Let's just say my wife and the lady were not the same culture. The manager offered to remedy the situation, but we had both lost interest because of the bad treatment.

So many to choose from, so little time.
My husband and I went to a department store to buy a mini chopper (electric). We found one we liked. Asked the sales rep. about it. She said they were out and only had the display model. Fine we say, we'll take it. No, she said, I have to make sure that you can do that. OK we say. She said she has to telephone someone for approval and tells us to wait. We wait.
45 minutes later we are still waiting at the counter. Another sales person asks who we are waiting for, Ms.____ was calling about the little chopper. Oh, she left a while ago, her shift was over, can I help you. YES we say, she was going to box up the chopper (we lied) for us. OK.
We got the chopper. Happy as clams.

My story is more mundane. I went to this place that is a combination beer distributor/grill to get some lunch, but the only employee that was there spent all of her time gabbing on the phone! I went to a neighboring sandwich shop and never, EVER have gone back to the other place.
