So who on here thinks Global Warming affects the Hurricane season making it worse and produceing stronger hurricanes? All you that thinkit is are idiots and are totally eating what they are feeding you!!!

No s#it that warm water makes them stronger but thats not my point...Global Warming still doesn't make a season no better or worse!!! It can be hot as hell and not have one hurricane all season!!!! Chad told me this.....Chad also wears them out in the Reggio!!

Lets see, no major hurricanes in 2006. It is now July 22, and no hurricanes yet. Ummm, no.

One thing no-one is disputing is that the number and intensity of hurricanes has increased substantially. In the last 30 years there's been a 50% increase in intensity and an 80% increase in frequency. Not every season but averaged out over many years, there will be some seasons with very low activity and others with very high activity.
There is almost no dispute amongst meteorologists, climatologists and the like that global warming is contributing to this unusual behaviour. That's not to say that we understand just what's happeing - we don't. One of the biggest problems concerns the fact the increase in frequency and intensity is much greater than should be attributable solely to global warming. It's possible that there are other factors at work besides global warming or it's possible that the trigger mechanisms that spawn hurricanes are more finely balanced than was previously thought.
Just as a matter of interest - why are those who seek facts from first hand sources such as scientists idiots and presumably those who rely on second hand sources such as the media are correct?

Yea, remember "Global Warming" has a name, and her name is Katrina. The US caused it's own destruction because of her ill ways. The hurricanes in 2005 were just a precursor to what was going to come in 2006 and 2007.
But then in 2006 when there were just a few small hurricanes, it was because "global warming' created "El Nino" which sheered the tops off of forming storms.
Then in 2007, "El Nino" went away. "Climatologist" said we were doomed, that 2007 would be the worst year ever for hurricanes, since the energy was stored over from 2006.
Now that no hurricanes have formed at all, it's because "global warming" is preventing the natural occurrence of hurricanes. But in 2008, we'll be DOOMED!!!
One year they will be right. Then these "climatologist" will stand up and say they were right, and we should listen to them because they can predict the future.
People who think there is a relationship will point to the number of storms in the last 30 years. They conveniently leave out the 1930's and 1940's when there were more storms and more severe hurricanes than in 2005. - Nothing like not letting fact get in the way.

i think that we were lucky that the hurricane season wasn't worse. however, the vast majority of scientific evidence points toward hurricanes gaining in intensity as global warming continues. rarely can anyone predict exactly what will happen in all cases. simply because this year didn't fit the model doesn't mean the next 5 won't.

I see we got another attention seeker.
"Hurricanes usually originate as a cluster of showers and thunderstorms in tropical waters. The process by which a disturbance forms and subsequently strengthens into a hurricane depends on many conditions. However, there are three major factors which must be met before hurricane formation. Those factors include warm water and moisture, favorable low level winds, and light upper level winds.
A hurricane's main source of energy comes from heat. Developing hurricanes gather heat and energy through contact with warm ocean waters. Most of the time in the hurricane generation season ocean water temperatures are warmer than 79 degrees."
Now, they gather energy from heat! Who here think there is a link between global warming and the presence of hurricanes?

It's simple scientific fact.
What do you think makes the winds go in a hurricane? Heat from ocean water. More heat, more wind.
Year to year the weather jumps around so not every year is worse than the last. But, overall, hurricanes are getting stronger.
Not knowing that is just being ignorant about what makes hurricanes work.

My opinion is that there is an affect. Whether it will change for the worse I am still not sure about. This years Atlantic Season has been out of the ordinary with storms coming out of the usual hurricane season.

Scientists have concluded that global warming causes increased sea surface temperatures (SSTs). Increased SSTs will lead to stronger hurricanes, but they probably won't be any more frequent.

I DON'T KNOW IF ITS GLOBAL WARMING, BUT SOMETHING IS DIFFERENT ABOUT THE WEATHER. I LIVE IN THE STATE OF LOUISIANA AND CAN TELL YOU THE WEATHER HAS SHIFTED, WE HAVE MORE RAIN THEN USUAL AND WE DO HAVE STRONGER HURRICANES, JUST LOOK AT WHAT KATRINA DID, DEVASTING. I THINK THIS OLD WORLD HAS TO MUCH ACTIVITY ON IT TO SURVIVE AND WE MUST START TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT, IN THE FUTURE I DO SEE US LIVING IN SPECIAL DOME LIKE CITIES TO SURVIVE. I GUEST IF I BELIEVE IN GLOBAL WARMING OR SOMETHING TO THAT EFFECT I MUST BE A BIG OLD IDIOT. I KNOW IN THIS STATE WE HAVE A LOT OF PEOPLE WITH BREATHING PROBLEMS ETC. CAN YOU EXPLAIN THAT? SOMETIMES I THINK TECHNOLOGY IS A CURSE, IT IS GOOD IN SOME ASPECTS BUT I THINK EVENTUALLY IT WILL BE THE DOWNFALL OF HUMAN KIND. GOD BE WITH YOU.

i think "global warming" is stupid. if i could really help cause it, i'd be doing my part to pollute all day long, because i hate the cold. there were like three weeks straight last winter where it didn't get above freezing, & i live in southern indiana. that's on the globe, right? it isn't warming fast enough for me
