Heart shaped cookie cutters with an index card attached that said "Cut out for each other" with the names and date and on the backside a recipe for sugar cookies.
A card that said "Lucky in love" with the names and date and on the inside was a scratch off lottery ticket.

I work for a printing company and the newest craze is a personalized photo trading card of the bride and groom. This is especially great if both bride and groom are say for instance "sports nuts" or "musicians", they can have their best pic on the front and then on the back have different goofy stats or facts about how they met, funny stories, or simple things like the groom's favorite pizza topping is pineapple and maybe the bride's favorite hobby is shoe shopping. Its a cute keepsake, its like the same size as a sports trading card and is just the right size for the wallet. It not only shows off a bit of creativity but its a novel idea and not many people do it. I know that if I were going to a wedding and these were handed out, I would definitely keep it. I don't know how many times I have been to a wedding and wanted a nice memorable photo or something to remind me of the day. I think this would be excellent and much more personal.
By the way, the link included is not the company I work for. But these guys are much more affordable. If you have a creative streak or maybe a friend that is a wiz with photoshop, then submit your own art and create this yourself. Good luck.

Last Saturday I attended my granddaughters garden wedding ceremony.
There were the traditional 5 almonds wrapped in net and tied with a bow and a net bag with a draw string filled with candy kisses.
That was nice but what I thought was great and the first time I have seen it, was bottles of water with a pink 3 1/2 inch band wrap on the bottle with the Bride and Grooms name on it.
It was a hot day even under the canopy but the water was refreshing and a very cleaver idea.
I noticed that not too many even bothered with the almond and kisses favors. The kisses were pretty well melting.
She/my daughter did another thing that I liked.
She had a large picture of the bride laying on the guest sign in table.
The picture frame was large with a white 3 inch matte and the guests signed the matte rather than signing the guest book.
I like that. She will hang it on her wall for everyone to see.
Guest books are shoved in a drawer and very seldom look at again.
I would say for a garden wedding I would consider the water bottle with pink cover with their name would be considered a favor and it would be the only favor I would use.
Some times it is a little cumbersome dealing with carrying a favor around and many are left behind.

It really depends on what the couple mean to me. If they are a close friend and or close family member that I really like, then I keep what ever the wedding favor is as a reminder of their special day. For all others I only keep the flower seeds and candles. All that other stuff I just toss in the trash. I do enjoy the candy and nuts, so I eat those.
Wishing you the best and a happy married life.

The purpose of a wedding favor is so that people will keep it and remember the wedding by it, so it has to have some appeal and a quality about it that would that would make it able to kept out of a box or attic, used occasionally and not get worn with use. I went to a wedding and received a cd with the bride and grooms favorite songs and the cd cover was a beautiful engagement photo of them. It was sentimental and elegant and it looked rather affordable. The wedding was over five years ago and everyone that I know still has the cd and we still listen to it.

Most of the stuff you get from wedding is useless stuff that has no practical application. You shove it in a box for a few years and eventually throw it out. Can't use stuff with someone else's names and/or initials on them no matter how close a friend or relative they may be. I always feel that I should not be the one who has to remember a wedding with some favor; since it wasn't my wedding, it is transient and a thing of the moment. The only good wedding favor I ever got is a vase (a nice one) that was stuffed full of breath mints, chocolates, a zipper pull someone made, some other things that anyone can always use. We still have the vase and will use it if someone ever gives or gets cut flowers.

Hi! The all time best would definately be "A Scoop full of Love for you from the bride and groom", with a durable ice cream scoop. It was not engraved with names but it had the tulle netting wraped around it with a label indicating the bride and groom, date they were married and a little thank you. Also loved the "Spoon full of kisses" idea but some, as amazing as it is, do not like candy but everyone, everyone loves ice cream!! While the candle idea from say Yankee candle is popular, its far too expensive unless your having a small wedding and most wouldn't keep the votive after burning off the candle so save your money! I can say, if you choose to use favors pick something that you like, ie coffee drinker, ice cream lover, pizza freak, chocoholic, alcoholic whichever, themed favors go over big expecially if they mean something to the bride and groom. Go simple yet elegant decide and get it done, there are far too many other things to plan for that special day!! Good luck with your wedding plans and ENJOY your lives together!! ~ Cheri >^^<

The only wedding favor I have ever got that I actually liked was the champagne bottles. They had all the info from the wedding on them.....on the front a picture of the bride/groom thier names and the date. On the back there was a listing of the wedding party, also thier vows that they wrote themselves were on there.
They had ballons and ribbons tied to them that are no longer on the bottle but a nice touch.......
by far the best favor ever
and the champagne was great.....even after the champagne was gone I kept the bottle........not like when we got the nips.....drank em then threw em away before we even left....
candy pleases some but not all
cds are overdone
plastic is thrown away
candles are a nice center piece

I believe that favors are suppose to be a long time memory of the bride and groom. If a guest does not like the favor or think that they will keep the favor they don't need to take one. I don't think candy is a good idea because it can be gone in a flash, thrown out (waste of money), or left around to attract ants. Something creative and symbolizes the couple is worth keeping. A Cd with the couples favorite music. A camera that one can take pictures of the night and keep. Or a candle holder with a picture or saying that the couple lives by. You can always use a candle holder. The idea should match the wedding theme.

Unfortunately, I've never been too impressed by wedding favors or weddings in general. All that money spent for show and no one will remember the wedding but the couple and immediate family. But, back the question, if I had to choose, it would be shot glasses because I collect them. Mini wine or champagne bottle are nice too. I would toss the knick knacks & potpourri sacks. For most of the weddings, I attended, the invitations were the best part. Now that, I would kept!
