Newsflash: people who are not gay, retarded, ugly or stupid are frequently rejected too. Mostly when they are jerks. Being "perfectly formed" doesn't guarantee a good life.
Anyway, I wouldn't reject my own child, and neither would my husband or other children, so the baby's life wouldn't be a total loss.
I am not prejudiced against physically or mentally handicapped people, nor am I prejudiced against gay people or ugly people or people who aren't as smart as I am. I'm not prejudiced against people who can't drive a car or have other limitations. I believe that a life still has great value and is deserving of great joy, even if that person is somehow limited or different for you.
And the "higher taxes" argument is just a bunch of hooey.
I hope someday that you will learn to value human beings more than cars, money and whatever other "enjoyments" you think life is all about.

So the gay, retarded, ugly or stupid aren’t worthy of a life? What if I felt that way about blacks, or Jews or criminals? What about the deaf, or blind? How about if you aren't born with a defect but are injured or become sick later in life? Should we kill those people? Where do we draw the line and who gets to draw it? Have you ever read about the eugenics programs of the 1800s and early 1900s? It advocated many of the same things you are proposing but was widely decried as racist and elitist. The worst offenses of Nazi Germany were based on ideas similar to this, elimination of undesirables, Jews, gypsies, Albanians, etc. Is that what we want?
What about Einstein, he certainly wasn't good looking - abort him? Beethoven was deaf, Lincoln certainly wasn't good looking. How many of histories greatest figures would have fallen into your "undesirable" categories?
And so what if they aren't popular? Life isn't a popularity contest. I suppose you would let Hollywood types run the country because they are rich, intelligent and good looking, never mind that they sometimes they have no clue about how things really are. As to being unhappy, what about the millions of people suffering from depression? Should we substitute cyanide for their prozac? Put them out of their misery? Take a look at the Bill of Rights. It guarantees the right to the pursuit of Happiness. There is no guarantee that you will be happy in life and being unhappy at times is just a part of life.
As to taxes, I'd rather spend my money there than on subsididies to corporations or building a bridge in the middle of nowhere.

EVERYONE, even the 'total vegetables' who were born that way has a 'purpose' in this world, and ALL of them deserve the time to 'fulfill' that purpose. Obviously, you have some 'prejudices' against people who are gay, retarded, ugly, or just plain stupid ... but if a woman has an abortion, and the percentage of adults in this world is 'heavier' toward straight, wise, beautiful, and intelligent, then that 'potential child' should have the 'heavier' percentage chance of being straight, wise, beautiful and intelligent. And the 'taxes lost' from those 'unborn children' would exceed those 'saved' to support the others. Sorry, but your 'reasoning' is 'incorrect' because you didn't think about the 'percentages' of ALL of the children born, only the ones you would like to 'get rid of' ...

I'm almost offended at how ignorant you sound, but you sound half serious also.
Just because a person is disabled doesn't mean they don't enjoy living. And what's wrong with being born gay? Who other people live their lives with doesn't affect my life, so I don't worry about it. You should do the same.
Everyone in life, no matter how they are born, grows up with some of the problems you describe. People get over it, and they live their life. I'm sure at one point or another, you were rejected by someone. How did you deal with it?

It's freedom of choice, something people is this country are trying to restrict and it annoys the hell out of me when people ask for advice about termination on these boards and then get bombarded with messages from hate mongerers telling them they are going to hell, are murderers etc and I guarantee that most of these people have never been in the situation where they would have had to make a choice.
However I don't think the possibility that having a gay or ugly child is reason enough to have a termination.

If that child grows up to have that many problems she may feel rejected. But her family wont reject her, her true friends wont reject her, and most importantly GOD will never reject her. He made her that way not to be killed before birth, but to develop an inner strength to get through everyday. the only limits she will have in life is just HOW many people she will touch the lives of!

solid subject that character is supplied in first which comprise your spouse - and that she has low expectancies. i replaced into waiting to respond to the question, till I study the section I skipped the 1st time. this could have been an extremely humorous state of affairs in case you hadn't performed the disgusting component to staring at a splash woman via a telescope. what's incorrect with you. Then she is a youthful woman, not a woman - your mistake.

That is a poor argument, because it works both ways. An aborted child could have turned out to be the person who cures cancer, too. Besides, it does not stop people who do choose to have children from having dumb babies, anyway. Ultimately, this does not address fear of abortion in any serious way. So what is your point?

An interesting point, but by your reasoning, nobody should ever have children, ever, at all. You're saying it isn't worth the risk to bother reproducing, which essentially dooms humanity to extinction.
Your question has less to do with abortion then it does the value of reproducing, in general.
I don't have kids, and don't want any, for this very reason. I'm happy, so why bother rocking the boat? Why risk spawning a defective human who will be an inconvenience? Even the non-defective ones are pretty inconvenient, anyway. Considering the rate that the rest of you bipeds breed, I'm not worried about the human race becoming extinct.

Well If you think like that then you shouldn't have children! You love your child no matter what they look like or what ever disabilities they have. Remember, They most likely got that way because of the parents.
