What were the circumstances? Did you truly pass out from lack of oxygen or from too much carbon dioxide?
If a person holds his or her breath long enough to lose consciousness, this is because the CO2 levels in the blood have risen too high. When the person passes out, they begin to breath normally and the CO2 levels slowly return to normal. This does not result in the loss of any brain cells.
If someone is deprived of oxygen for a long enough period of time, sever damage can occur to the brain and to other organs in the body.
If you're sitting in front of your computer typing messages on Yahoo, there is a very good chance that you have not lost any brain fuction. I could probably tell you more, though if I knew why or when you passed out.

You can picked them up off the ground and put them back in.
Why did you not get enough oxygen in the first place.

None. Your body passes out to protect itself. brain cells will regenerate themselves.
