I have a chance to head back overseas to afganhistan for my 4th time. I am currently in the guard trying to get activated again with my old active duty unit. They may be there for 6 to 9 months. I have three jobs in the states two of which pay decent. The only thing really stopping me from goin back over is my mom, I dont know if I can break her heart again... what do I do?

If your thinking about it maybe you should think about enlisting full time. It sounds to me that you miss the military and if your working three jobs, you can't be that happy. Your mom wants you to be happy, but she doesn't want to see you hurt or killed. This maybe the only life we have to live, so I would follow your heart and do what makes you happy. We will never reach our full potential if we live the lives others want us to live, even when those people are those we care about.

do you really want to go back overseas?? I am not a mom but if i was i would of course be heart broken but at the same time proud that you are wanting to do something. Have a heart to heart with your mom and ask her what she thinks you should do. The other jobs may pay well but are you happy doing them?? And you are trying to get back into active duty which means you won't have a choice about going.. I would just like to thank you for everything you do and i hope that it all goes well hun

If you are this motivated then join active forces and get out of the guard. Marines and Army are both accepting applications. Good Luck. And if you feel patriotic about serving America but without so many chances of getting shot and deployed join the Border Patrol.

If you really want to go back, I think you should while you can. CNN and my electronic newspaper are both talking about Congress voting to get out of Iraq by Spring '08. It'd be a good chance to save up some money. Good luck, be safe.

Do what you truly believe is the right thing to do. But your 4th time, that might be to much for your mom to bare. If you don't have to, I think you owe your mom to stay. Or just tell your mom that you are able to go back and ask what she thinks about it. Hope this helps : ). Thanks to all you and the others do out there!

I'm with Nate of the North on this.
I doubt your mama's heart is broken either. I'd be willing to bet that she's as proud of you as she could possibly be.
You do what's right for YOU, not anyone else.
