I want to get laser hair removal on my underarms. Has anyone done this recently and had good results? I have really dark hair and I have to shave everyday which sometimes causes razor burn. I wear a lot of tank tops cause I get hot easily, so razor burn is extremely embarassing. Laser Hair Removal is my best option, I think. I would like to hear about someones personal experience. Thanks!

the removal has nothing to do with what people think about me. i personally do not like having hairy armpits waving around. i actually think its more hygenic in a way cause you would have less body odor. but everyones opinion is different and i respect that but i just don't like having really dark hair on my fair skin.

I’ve had my upper lip and bikini area done. It’s about $700-800 total per area and each area required 4-5 monthly visits. Oh, gosh, there is some pain involved. They say it feels like rubber bands snapping on your skin. Oh, I wish it felt like that. And this was with the numbing topical treatment. But it is SO worth it. My hair has been gone for over a year and I know it’s permanent. The first 2 visits will be the worst because there’s a lot of hair to zap. After my first bikini visit, my skin was a little irritated and puffy. They had aloe spray to apply at the spa. About an hour later, my skin had calmed down and I didn’t need to go out and buy any aloe. Then, I waited and waited and thought the laser didn’t work. About 5 days later, all the hair fell out. I went about 5 weeks before I saw more growth- they said that’s the next growth pattern- and I scheduled the next appt. There is significantly less hair after each treatment. Before my last treatment, everything that came in was just very fine hair, almost peach fuzz. Now, I’m a brunette so I had the highest chance of the laser working on me. From my experience, I highly recommend it. I’m so happy I got it done- pain and all!

Laser hair removal can be permanent, as lasers create a beam of highly concentrated light that penetrates deep into the skin where it delivers a controlled amount of therapeutic heat. This light energy is absorbed by the pigment located in the hair follicles. The laser pulses for a fraction of a second, just long enough to destroy numerous follicles at a time and leaves the surrounding skin unaffected. Factors like heredity, hormone imbalances and reactions to medications can also determine the results, So follow up visits may be needed to treat regrowth and to maintain the results.

The hair removal industry is a billion dollar business and I too have thought about laser hair removal for my underarms. It seems like a safe enough thing and then i might do my arms too. I dont have to shave everyday because my hair is so fine but when i forget i look up and have fuzz patch at the worst possible times, LOL
i hope that others give both of us some good information-especially about the pain factor, lol

It's a good option, and it does work. You need a series of treatments, to catch all the cycles of hair growth. It is sort of expensive, but worth it. Dark hair on pale skin is where it works best, so it's good for underarm area. It stings a bit while they do it, but once it's done you feel nothing.

My wife had it done 6 years ago and she had very good results. She said the 1st treatment hurt a bit but that subsequent treatments were fine. She did get minor regrowth when she had a pregnancy because the hormonal changes caused some follicles to go active that had previously been dormant. Overall she is very happy and she paid about $825.

I was thinking about laser hair removal too, but not in the pits. Never thought of that actually. The only bad thing I've heard about it is it's pricy....

i had that done before. it works great! you have absolutely no hair for about a year, bet then hair starts to grow again and you have to get it done again and eventually the process becomes very expensive, but it also means that you only have to do something about that hair 1-2 times a year! and that is great!

Not going to lie...It does hurt worse then tatoos, very painful!!!But once you are done with all your sessions. no more shaving, plucking, waxing or using the hair removal cremes. Well worth it in the end
