When a bride walks towards the minister and her future husband, is she walking up the aisle or down the aisle?
I thought you walk UP the aisle towards the minister, and DOWN the aisle after he pronounces you both husband and wife.

Am I wrong?

Actually, you walk DOWN to the altar. This is actually a physical description, because many older churches are built on a gradual decline so that people in the back can see over the heads of the people in front of them. Not unlike a theatre or sports arena. It's better for sound, too.

Some modern churches are built the opposite way, rising up to the altar. So, your particular church may have that configuration, in which you may be walking UP (physically up), but most of the time, you would be walking down.

In many cases the church is slanted toward the pulpit so you would be walking down the isle to the minister and up the isle to leave.
