The bibledegook tells them to expect persecution. The fact they are too busy meting it out to actually experience any themselves does not blunt their need to find some to suffer from. So they end up being persecuted by the supermarket trolley's wobbly wheel or some other work of the antichrist almost daily.
I think you call this an unhealthy lack of sense of perspective.

It makes them feel better because they aren't being persecuted. As a child, growing up in a christian home, the lesson daily was always "You can tell you're a true and god fearing christian by how many people despise you"
but then, I was raised baptist, so that may be a denomational thing.

Yes, I'm sure. They're actually changing the nations law right now. Next year, they're going to start boiling all the christians in giant vats of oil and then crucify them. If you renounce your religion, they'll give you an easier death. Stoning.

Sorry, but I'm a Christian and I did not vote for this president. I am registered independent and vote that way. If you use the search line on your computer, you'll find numerous websites for groups of Christians who disagree with current policy. You're using generalizations and stereotypes, which is always wrong.
If Christians are in control of everything, why can't they get creation ID into schools? The atheists have a death grip on that issue and others.

Because the bible was written in a time when the Christians were an extreme minority and when they were truly victims.
So Christians read the bible today and it tells them that the world is out to get them, which it was 2000 years ago. Now they are out to get the world, but still maintain their victimhood because the inspired scriptures can't be wrong.
Its just a timing issue.

It helps them politically. And it is natural for them, since their religion teaches them that they are all victims of some great evil superbeing. Many actually think that there is a Satan that corrupts the world and their feeble little belief in God will win out against all the odds. So, even though they are in the majority, anything that holds them back one bit from pushing their belief in the face of others is seen as a desparate struggle against great odds to overcome a powerful force.
Of course, politicians use fear mongering to get this flock of scared sheep to vote for them. For them, it is a powerful tool and religion hands it to them.
This is yet another way that religion harms society.

That is a ridiculous question. The largest govt. entity in the US is the public education system and it is definitely NOT Christian. It is as anti-Christian as you can be. The future of this country is based the beliefs and knowledge of the children that are being educated in the public schools. It is designed to exclude all that is Christian. That is why Christians are feeling like victims. Over the last 30 years, rights that were constitutionally established have been taken away. Don't talk to me about separation of church and state. That isn't in the Constitution. The Constitution was written to protect Christianity, not limit it.

You can't be born Christian, and those who just attend church for weddings, funerals, and Easter probably aren't Christians either. The number of Christians in this country is a lot smaller than the number of people on the rolls of the nation's churches. To be a Christian, you must place your trust in Jesus Christ and in His work for salvation, not your own.
That said, Christians are not very oppressed in this country. We are not killed or persecuted in traditional means. That could change, however.
