I am needing to rent a car for a trip. I don't have full coverage on my own personal car. Can I rent with just liability or do I have to purchase their rental insurance??

If you have a valid license, you can rent a vehicle even if you have absolutely NO insurance, since insurance goes with the car, not the driver. Your own full coverage on your car would not necessarily cover a rental car.

You can take their additional coverage if you like, or you can ask your agent about a rider that would cover a rental car, which might be a bit cheaper for you. Also some credit card companies will automatically insure you if you use their card, so check that out also.

Even if you did not get their insurance your insurance doesn't cover their car. If you use an American Express Gold car they will take care of the insurance you don't need to purchase it. Check with you credit card company to see if they provide coverage, some do.
You would need to purchase their coverage for your own assurance that if you were in a collision you are covered.. If you feel lucky then don't....Do you feel Lucky...Well.. Do ya....

"Personal liability" excludes auto liability. If you have AUTO LIABILITY, they will let you rent the car. You don't need full coverage on your car to rent.

Flat out get their insurance. It may cost extra and you may not need it but if you do you will be very thankful you have it

You can but I don't advise it. ANY damage to the vehicle is YOUR responsibility no matter if it's your fault or not.
