I had all four of my impacted wisdom teeth removed a week ago Tuesday. I found out last Monday that the bottom two were dry sockets, so now I have two holes on either side of my gums that hurt like CRAZY! When I went to the dentist and they told me about the dry sockets they flushed them and then placed a small round piece of packing in it. They did this on both sides but one of my gums hasn't healed completely and has a larger hole then the other side. When I cleaned that side out this morning the 2nd time I flushed it the small piece of packing they put in the came out. It doesn't hurt bad now but it hurt a little bit afterwards. Is this supposed to happen?? They didn't say anything about that happening?? I am kind of worried...... I know it would make sense to go back to the dentist however, I am at work until 5pm. So I am just wondering if anyone else experienced this?

Called the dentist they said my body didn't break down the packing and it was absolutely okay. Thanks though!!!

I suggest the person to be asking is your dentist. Call the office and ask them what you need to do. Don't mess around with the potential for infection so close to your brain.

Oh noes! I am sooo sorry you got dry socket! Call your dentist to make sure, but are you not supposed to be changing the dressings after the first day, and switching in new moistened gauze?
