I know they said the air is fine and they have been testing since yesterday but I am still worried. I work around 30th street & Park and when I got off the train this morning, I smelled the fumes. I am waiting until 9:30 to call my doctor to ask if I should be around this area but I am curious to see what you guys think. Are there any pregnant women who work in the area, who didn’t go to work because of the explosion or are worried like myself? Who knows what caused that explosion, sad to say but I don’t trust our government 100% and it is scaring me. Should I be worried or am I just over reacting?

According to the news, the air tests show no asbestos in the air but only in the dirt and mud. I don't think it would have any effect in your area, but always be on the safe side. Call your doctor and make an appointment. Your health and your unborn baby's health are important.

Well when i visited the place they have found stuff that could be unsafe in buildings from 9/11. The tour guide said. The stuff dosent get in the air but the stuff in the buildings are shut down till they get the toxic out. im sorry about you goin threw 9/11. I dont think so but maybe you should ask your doctor if you should be with a family member since the exsplosion you were talking about.

From what I read it looks like it may have just been a boiler that blew up. I know things get kind of tense since 9/11. I think the people in New York have every reason to be uptight when ever a blast or explosion occurs. You may never forget what happened, being in such close proximity. I don't blame you for feeling the way you do about the present government, either.
I say that if you feel safer at home, in your condition, phone in sick. You have real fears here and the baby is your main concern.
