What is the risk to you when the only action you need to take is to click a mouse button?

If you disagree what do the odds have to be?

The thing I like about the video is that it's clear and concise and easy to understand.

There's no arguing for or against global warming, no finger pointing just a clear presentation of the possible scenarios - factual and unbiased. The guy doesn't even let us know what his views on the matter are.

The video has been discussed on this forum before and there were people then who objected to the video, made the standard accusations and came out with the usual unsubstantiated statements that global warming was invented as part of some government conspiracy scheme etc etc.

I think with some people the odds are irrelevant. They've effectively forced themselves into a corner, have been vocal in their opinions and are in a position now where to do anything other than fervently deny global warming would be to lose face. The world could be melting around them and they'd still claim it was Al Gore's fault or an African conspiracy.

The choice of taking action or not taking action is a clear one. Some people want to stake the future of our planet on a bet with very poor odds, this is the kind of risk I don't want to take, not just for my sake but for everyone else as well.

Let's take the only safe and sensible option. Act now.

It's climate change not global warming. Mars has lost all kinds of ice in the last few years, do you think it is because the Martians didn't join Kyoto? It's the sun and we have no control. The Government is just promoting the Global Warming bull to divert peoples attention so we don't all start to panic. They want us to think we can do something when they know what is going to happen will happen....

"the responsible thing to do when we don't know what is going to happen, is to plan for the worst."
this is an example of using logic to dissect a problem. it's an issue that is emtionally charged, with storng opinions on both sides. he attempts to defuse the emotions by appealing to the intellect... successfully. he does not come off as pompous, biased, nor superior. i secretly found myself WANTING to believe what he said: so far as the psychology of the presentation, i give it an A+.

"the risk of not acting far outweighs the risk of acting." do you purchase insurance? do you trust that driver to stop if you run into traffic? prepare for the worst, or take steps to prevent it from happpening. what is the worst that could happen? the WORST? pray we don't find out. having a chance to STOP it and not using it is foolish. describing the worst case scenario might scare off some potential 'converts', but he did not dwell upon them or use them to fear-monger.

"you make this part of your thinking, part of your conversation". and you have, and you are. that Is the best news: he is correct. we both know YA is as good a way to reach large numbers of diverse people as we are likely to find. as i wrote in another answer, maybe THEY won't be persuaded. but they'll pass on the information to someone who WILL.

nice find, belladonna. how to embed it on the YA home page? :)

Rhinobucket,
Mars southern polar ice cap is decreasing in size because it is facing the Sun. The northern polar ice cap is increasing in size at the same time. This is a natural balance. This is regional warming. It has nothing to do with global warming on Earth.
The Anthropogenic RF is +1.6 [-1.0, +0.9] W/m2.
The natural RF is + 0.12 [-0.06, +0.18] W/m2.

The only problem with this scenario is that the lower right box is as he implies "the end of the world as we know it" in 10 - 20 years. The effects of GW whether man-made or not is grossly exaggerated. He has lost his grip on reality.

A young person said right here:
"Global warming is very scary. I hope it does not happen"

Man that is enough for me to want to act. How about you?
