is it appropriate to have the guy come to your house for dinner on the 4th date or is it too soon?

If you want to have sex do the invite and don't say anything about sex unless he asks.
If you want to play it by ear say your invite is just for the meal and not sex as it is too soon in our relationship for sex.
If you really do not want sex and will not change your mind about that. Tell him you really want him to come over to your place for dinner, but do not want him to get the idea you are asking for sex, because you truly are inviting him for dinner only. If your relationship goes in the right direction sex will come later. Smile. Ask if you have been clear enough. Smile.
