I'm 16 [btw]. I met him on facebook, but I also know his brother [who's 17]. I've never actually met him in person, just seen him. He is in Tampa right now with his family because his dad has a buisness conference. He has called me a few times since we started talking. He told me that when he comes back he wants to take me out. I don't know how to tell if he likes me or if he is just doing this because I know his brother... He has never cheated on a girlfriend before or anything, and we tell each other a lot.

What should I do? Should I keep talking to him & see how things go? Or just ditch the whole idea of possibly dating him because he is four years older.

Honestly I would wait. Why would a guy who's 20, almost 21, want to date a 16 year old? I'm sure you're cute and you have many positive qualities about you but come on....be smart. A guy that age will say and do ANYTHING to get with a girl your age to take advantage of her. When I was your age I had plenty of older guys ask me out but I always had to say No. Its the best thing.Age doesn't matter too much after you're 21 but before that you should only date guys no more than two years older than you. I know its hard to see this from other people's point of views. You like him and thats probably all that matters to you. I urge you to be cautious and take my advice.

Ditch it. You are 16. He is 20. Odds are, depending on where you live, it is illegal for him to have sex with you. Although a relationship with you in itself would be fine, if you ever became intimate, you'd be in a pickle. And at 20, I guarantee you that he is going to want to be intimate. Besides, at your age you should be living it up and having fun, and not wasting your time dating someone who is old enough to get married. Wait a couple of years and see where you are then. Good luck!

It's illegal. Wait until you're 18 before you start dating that big of an age gap.

And Facebook was originally a college network. Stop looking at college guys' profiles. Look through your high school instead.

Don't try to read more into your situation than what there is....you aren't planning on marriage and I hope you aren't thinking about sex with him yet. Let him take you out, have fun, no one says you have to be serious about a relationship with him right off the bat. Take your time, let a guy wine and dine you so to speak. I always told my girls to let a guy woo them, if a guy really likes you for who you are he won't pressure you for sex and won't mind spending time and money on you without the pressures of putting out.

As far as age goes, my fiance is 15 years older than I am, but of course I am not a teenager either...but as long as you are keeping your relationship with him purely platonic you should be fine.

You're 16 and he's 20. You're "jailbait". Besides, you've never actually met him. Just ditch the whole idea and stay off of facebook before you get yourself in trouble.
