No question..... musician !!! and you have the bonus that you are young and have a number of years ahead of you to really get your playing up there. At what age to sportsmen become "has beens "- just look at the physical problems they have when they get older. Nothing more sad than an old sportsman left with only his memories. However as a musician you will be able to play until you drop. Music is a challenge.. a great leveler and you cannot buy your way into proficiency. Like sport it is hard work but far more challenging. On top of all of this you can work in the automotive industry If you like and you will still have more than enough time to practice and you can do it wherever and whenever you like, unlike sport. I saw the light early thanks to a minor back injury (that I have fully recovered from) and am looking forward to playing until I pass the envelope.

Despite the fact that I a very serious about music I chose not to follow a career in it because I do not enjoy the limelight and half of the crud that goes with being a rock musician. I am passionate about too many other things to get totally involved and I am a professional person with my own business. Reading between the lines I think you have an understanding of this but are just wanting opinions.... that is prudent. I leave it to you to make the most advantageous choice.

I think that at 15, you're too young to be deciding your life's path yet. Keep up both sports AND music. And keep working toward the college plans.

Neither sports NOR music is a sure-fire way to a career. There are very few opportunities for professional soccer players, and NO ONE is going to pay you to wrestle professionally (that WWE stuff notwithstanding). And music is a dicey career choice also. Sure, you're making some money at it now, but it's hard to sustain a full life on gigging around, so unless you're one of the very few who makes it big time (and this is almost NEVER based on talent because I know some VERY talented musicians who have never hit the big time and we ALL know some really crappy ones who HAVE hit it big), you'll have to have another career to fall back on.

The automotive gig seems like a sure bet. Not as exciting as either sports or music, but much more secure.

Keep your options open -- nothing says you can't do both sports AND music as long as you'd like!

Good luck.

Before you apply to college, learn to spell. Also, unless you major in automotive engineering and design, this is not a college major. It sounds like you are a hard worker - pursue the automotive area, since it will guarantee a good income. You can play all the sports you wish to stay in shape and blow off stress. You should be able to afford nice instruments and a nice home studio so that you can play as much or as little as you want.

We made the decision many years ago to teach school music. I work in school 183 days, have off 182 days. I do a LOT with my own music, and own a classical music agency, play out a lot, judge competitions, teach privately. This is allowing me to retire from school teaching at 55. I have had a good salary, vacation, BENEFITS, and therefore the freedom to do what I want to do in professional music. My performing colleagues who ONLY play have had some very lean times. There is nothing like having money that you have earned - as you have found out at an early age. GOOD FOR YOU!!!!!!!!! So go the solid employment route, and then you can afford to do anything you want in sports or music.

Well keep in mind that music will last you longer than sports probably, seeing as sports has such a limited amount of years that you can play professional, plus the chance of injury. You could still do both even if you did end up choosing one over the other. You shouldn't have to stop doing everything you love and just choose one. Theres a way somehow to balance them all.

well you said you love to perform and you didn't say that you love playing soccer. freudian slip?

anyway... i loveeee musicians so this is guna be kind of bias. i think they're so talented the way they write their own songs and perform from the heart. as a musician, you can have more of a relaxed lifestyle... you can choose when you want to perform... where... what songs you want to perform. sounds like you really want that guitar too! hm... i mean if you become a musician, you can carry on with music your whole life..

but as an athlete, your health will deteriorate overtime.
as an athlete.. there are more risks... you can get injured. and if you're seriously injured, it can ruin your career. and there's more pressure from coaches and fans and stuff like that.

i'm sure you've heard this before, but follow your heart! i know you're torn so just weigh out the pros and cons of each choice. good luck!

What do you enjoy more? I love music, and it is my obsession. I would usually spend my time playing guitar, than doing sports. You are still very young, and I only had to make a major decision when I went to university. I just gently guided my speciality over quite a few years. You can still do the other hobby in your spare time.

Will soccer ensure you a scholarship for college? If yes, then stick with that. But music is something you can continue throughout your entire life. Don't give that up.
