Corn prices have tripled because of drought, NOT because of the manufacturing of fuel. Don't believe everything you read on line.

Don't believe everything u read. I am a farmer. We are on pace to raise the largest corn crop in history. Corn prices have already dropped a dollar. ( I'm curious to see if grocery and meat prices come down with the drop in corn prices) Most of the price increases to meat and other products is in the transportation costs. Diesel is almost $3 a gallon. The oil companies don't like ethanol it cuts into there record profits. What do u think will happen if our oil supplies ever get cut off and we have no alternative fuel. The money spent on oil goes to people who don't like us and want to harm us. The money for ethanol stays in the USA!!!

Where do you live that this is a problem? If your country can't balance food and fuel production then you need to move to a country not full of idiots.
Corn has been very cheap for very long, maybe it's time to start paying a fair price for it, so that farmers can keep farming. Ripping them off for decades on end has only caused lower quality food at super cheap prices. They're basically factory workers.
It's time to let farmers be farmers, that means a fair price for corn, like it or not.

Farmers in the United States are actually paid to plant their crops and then plow them under once they come up. This is due to surpluses that have developed.
By developing the corn into fuel, it will help get rid the surplus. Additionally, farmers will be back into the competitive market and maybe even begin to make money.

It is possible that the whole farming aspect will be in for major changes. Science will breed plants that produce more of the oils for foods and food stock will be the same as is now. Bio fuels is just in its beginnings and the profit makers need to feed the consumers other wise who will need the fuel ~~

You must be in the UK where corn is not a main cash crop like it is here in the USA. We produce enough for all markets.

Here in the USA we can grow enough corn to feed ourselves and power our cars. We just won't be able to export it out to other countries any more.

Corn is one of the grains that contains a lot of fat and gluten. So better choose oats or wheat or why not rice
