Dear Brothers and sisters is it not sad that yahoo has every single avatar you could possibly want from Hindu, Christian, Gay Pride, to even construction workers yet there are no MUSLIM or Jewish Avatars????

So this made me start this petition... I am sick and tired of having to use something else or even nothing as an avatar!

Please sign this petition and tell yahoo we want Muslim avatars! Pass it on to friends in your list we can make Yahoo change!!!!

Best Regards,
Sister Muslimah (aka Musulmana)

I definately agree that yahoo should provide representation for All peoples, since it has avatars of all the major faiths except Islam

granted we can upload our own pictures or alter the provided avitars if we have some computer savey but thats NOT the point.

Why should we be left as invisible, and left out of the circle? We're are not 10 or 20 people.. but over 1.6 billion individuals who live and have our faith as Muslims, therefore its more than a marginal error.

As a muslim I'm not asking for something exagerated I and my fellow muslim brothers and sisters would just like the same options as the rest of the world is recieving through yahoo avatars.

Clear Example of us being left out:

Holiday & Events:

Valentine's Day | Mardi Gras | Chinese New Year | Fourth of July | Halloween | Thanksgiving | Graduation | Hanukkah | Christmas | Kwanzaa | New Year | St. Patrick's Day | Easter | Mother's Day | Cinco de Mayo | Father's Day | Memorial Day | Groundhog Day | Black History Month | Academy Awards® | Earth Day | FIFA World Cup™ | Gay Pride | Birthday | Wedding | Basketball Championship | Prom

What's missing?

hmm.. no Muslim holidays..
we have two Eids that we celebrate

Assalamalikum, Subhan Allah (All Praises to Allah) This is a very impressive thought. I really liked how practical MoonLit Muslima's suggestions were. Though was saddened by the fact that people here are waiting for a community to be formed and some talk about the name. Let us all do our parts as Allah has shown as, 1. to make our din perfect, by reading and pondering on the Quran and Hadith. 2. To do good to others in the community. 3. Spread the teachings of Islam At the end of each day, think about what you have done for Firstly, to be closer to the Din and Secondly, for the community And most of all Trust in Allah! Allah has power on all things.

I am not a Muslim but I do agree with you, and you do need to petition Yahoo about that. Unfortunately some ignorant people see all Muslim's as terrorists which is very sad. There are some nasty radical fundamentalist Christians as well who do just as much harm. Go ahead get some avatars.

Salam,
I am VERY with you on this and I get very upset. I believe that this MIGHT have to do with the war going on. Since most others are agains't Islamic religion they just seem to "ignore" us. Everyday my mother says be proud of what we are no matter what people think because Allah put us on this earth to accomplish one thing. To believe in Allah and ONLY Allah, to pray for Him, and to follow our Prophet Mohammed and what he did. If we just put this in our minds all the time it wouldn't be a problem and Inshallah all the other religions might understand. I agree with you in many ways about how they discriminate us, but I just ignore it ALL.

Same concepts apply for holidays. I bet if you walk up to some random dude walking ont he street they would name ALL THE HOLIDAYS he could think of EXCEPT our Eids and Ramdan because its not common. We SHOULD make it common just like our prophet Mohammed did, and keep working until it happens no matter what.
((..and for the people living in America, isn't this place about practice of religion?.. Well what's practice of religion when we can't even have our own virtual hijabs?!))

..Here's my signing lol

I have managed to figure out how to use a picture as my avatar, but I've yet to discover how to put my avatar in hijab!

The easiest way for those of us who aren't so computer savvy would be to have the accessories available when we create our avatar, so I'm going to sign your petition. Thank you!

Salaam!

Yes, we have to be represented here because there is so much rubbish, even the people who don't understand Islam they will be put off. We have to give our point of view and in other times we have give the correct position.

If it bothers you THAT much, kindly recognize that we each have the power to CREATE our own avatars!

Gorgeous as I am, did you really think that Yahoo created an avatar of the Reverend Soleil just so other people could imagine themselves as having my rugged good looks (and abject humility)?

thereare avatars of women having veil so thats enough for muslim man , there is no represtation coz muslim has no specific cloths or sth like that , so i think u have to say why we dont have arabic yahoo , why there is no , www.yahoo.ar, coz there is yahoo of india of spain , of sweden , germany , but not a yahoo of arabs , why are we so invisible to u , to yahoo managers. any way that teach us , that we have to create our own yahoo and msn and hotmail , witch would be suitable to our believes and traditions.

Actually, if you look at the section with Male avatars--there are Jewish ones and the option for Kufis for guys but nothing for the ladies--it's disgusting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not a Muslim, but I agree you should have hijab and niqab if you wanted for the avatars.
