In Christian churches, what is a testimonial?
I'm reading a book, I think it's a teen book, called "Kate's Turn." It's something I found at a thrift store on lunch yesterday. Anyways. It's about this Mormon family and their trials with a rebellious daughter, and they keep referring to "what little testimonial" the daughter still has and I'm curious what they mean. Why did I pick a Christian novel to read? Coz I felt like it. :-) Now what is this "testimonial" thing, please?

To the sir who told me to go to the library. I LOVE books. It looked like something I'd like to read again and maybe share with my daughter, if I could figure out what all the stuff was about. I'm supposed to raise her loving God and hopefully as a Christian even though I love God and am not in a church coz I can't find one I understand or agree with or feel welcome at.

Sorry, Bubblewrap. I didn't know that about LDS. Will refer to it as LDS from now on. Thank you for that! :)

It is my understanding that a testimonial is our expression of our call to Christ and our experience of beleif on Him. (A public declaration of religious experience.)
Thank you. I hope this answer helps in your understanding.

To have a testimony is to know something is true. The Holy Ghost is sent to bear witness to or to testify of the Father and the Son.
In your book, Kate's Turn, this girl is able to get through some tough times because of her faith and/or testimony of the Savior in her life.
Does that answer your question?
Off topic: if that girl doesn't want to classify Mormons as Christians that's fine. In the Bible during and after Christ's ministry those who fallowed Christ were called Saints. That is why we are called The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. We are the Saints in these last or latter days. Both Christian and Mormon were terms used in a derogatory way. So feel free to call us Latter Day Saints or LDS for short

I have those books. There three in the series. (Really good series.) The other two are Kate's Return, and Forever Kate.
A testimony is one's faith and belief in the church. In this case, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day saints. It means they are worried about her because she going against everything she used to believe in and making very dangerous choices with dangerous friends. I hope you enjoy the book. You can look up Covenant Books online to order the other two. My mom gave them two me for Christmas when I was 13. That was a long time ago. Enjoy!

a testimony is a "witness to...something". In this case it may mean that the daughter is having some kind of an insight to whatever she is doing or whatever is going on in the community depending on the plot and how it unfolds.

A testimonial is typically a positive review left by a client for the organization a product was purchased from.

When I was in the 'fold' testimony was your story of your Christian path or walk with 'God'. People embellish it a lot and make it spectacular. Then there is the testimony competition of 'I was more depraved then you before I got saved'...

You can see good examples of a testimonial embedded in the "Ab-Builder" ads, or "Miracle Hair Restorer". It's a 'proof' of something's truth by anecdotal evidence, and occasionally not very trustworthy.

I used to be a religious zealot that forced my religion and cult on EVERYONE whether they wanted it or not. I put my brain in the hands of some guys that told me to lead my life by the fairy tale book the bible. That was then and this is now. Now I am free of the mind control and use my own brain. I no longer let anyone TELL me what to do,how to act,or what to see. Thanks to ATHEISM! Atheism allows me to live as humans are supposed to live. I no longer force my one sided sheeple views on anyone. I am finally living a life that is my own. THANKS ATHEISM!.......... Will M. Toronto Ontario......... *see thats a testimonial*

"Jared" basicall got it right.
A "testimonial" is someone's personal story about how God made a positive difference in their life.
A personal advertisement for their religion, in other words.
