Have you ever noticed the do-overs in your life? If you have, did you do it differently? Or do you find yourself, in the repeating process?

I'm sorry, frangipane; I'm not sure what you need to understand the question. You can write me offline if you like.

I also want to point out to the first two answerers that clearly this statement wasn't used in regard to revenge. Can't get off the bus, until you take the ride!

Shaka-Khan,
It's so translatable in so many ways. Even the Tower of Babylonians could've found a way to collectively translate.
"Makin' the same mistake twice" is the core of so many songs about the blues..
Plenty of do-overs yes, and it's usually about thinking I can put off my personal changes until later.. it's hard to be the Martin Scorscese of directing your life..and do-overs recur to spank you into action..
At times when there's only a few dollars between you and homelessness...at times when your phone hasn't rang in weeks, and you realise it's the consequence of not reaching out to others.....at times you consider that if you died tomorrow..it might not matter very much..the world would go on with barely a ripple and few tears...these opportunities
to try again, in hindsight are spiritual breakthroughs or epiphanies, but you have to pick up the God-given tools , and help God help you.
That's the time I try to remember I don't "got" to be here,I "get" to be here, and I'd rather be me than a Beatle, a king. or a bum..In remembering our uniqueness, we can be motivated to put our lives into action...
Sow.........Reap
Golden Rule
I Cannot recieve what I never asked for
I Cannot find what I never did seek...
These little gems help me avoid having to face do-overs, and I hope they inspire others......rv

Since our thoughts and more importantly for this question our habits of thoughts and habitual emotions create our realities, things will continue to repeat until those are broken or changed. They also constitute our beliefs, so this is an area to study within ourselves. There are many words to describe more or less the same thing, but the important thing to remember is that if we keep our focus in the same areas, the same events will continue to re-occur. Very often people change partners only to happily walk in to the same type of situation and sometimes even worse. This is why the worse it gets, the worse it gets. The second or third time around we are actually more focused on those things we don`t want and thus attract them even faster. All is well, because we will eventually get so sick of it that it will become obvious that we need to make some important change. Cheers

I had two do-overs in my life and I did not do it the same way and the results were marvelous.
I learn from my mistakes, and am much more cautious when mounting the horse the second time so to speak. This had nothing to do with horses, but it is a good analogy.
The first do-over was when I submitted to Christ and was born-again. The second do-over was when after surviving a 46 year marriage, I had the opportunity to select a new soul mate.
Selecting Jesus was my crowning achievement, and selecting my second soul mate was the second.
cindy, the way to keep the spit from being blown back in your face is an about-face, which it seems you have learned how to do.

Well Shaka.... I hang my head in shame.... I must admit there have been times in my life when Ive most definitely been on the merry-go-round.... and many times with the same person.... and we did the same things & made the same mistakes. Dear oh dear! Im glad to say Ive cut the ties with that one, once & for all. I think some lessons are harder to learn & sometimes you need to go back again, maybe even more than twice, before it has an impact on you & you finally 'get it.'
Love & good wishes to you.

That reminds me of some lady I saw on TV that said "a lesson learned is never repeated". I kept on channel-surfing and never listened to the rest, but that stuck with me.
It's true, once you've learned that lesson, whatever it is, it won't come around and knock ya on your bottom again lol

"Actions have consequences", is a nice way of putting it, that the non-religious can understand.
Great question Shaka.
You be well, too. :-)
Edit:
A Biblical take is "As ye sow, so shall ye reap".

Some call this "Karma". We repeat our mis-takes until we become more conscious in the moment...which 'ain't no easy task'. :D
When we live from a non-reactive approach to life we 'see' more clearly, thus, the repeats don't happen as often, often, often. Ooops!
