some times it is awful easy to listen to someones problems, and say "I will pray for you", or "i will keep you in my thought",
but isn't there more that we can do?
sure I listen, and hen I pray, but if I can I go beyond that, I try to give a smile, or and encouraging word. sometimes we can give a little advise that makes a difference.
if they need it I give a helping hand. and if I have it I give them money.
I also like to send a joke to my friends to lighten the mood, the bible does say that a merry heart does good like a medicine.
I try to make at least one person smile every day.
we never know when a person need to smile.
a few years back, i was working as a cashier, and a young lady bought a pack of cigarettes, then ask for a book of matches, I reply was matches cost a smile, which I got. she came back a little while later to thank me. she had just totaled her car, and said she really needed a smile at that time.
I do this every time someone ask for a book of matches, or a paper or plastic bag, I not only get a smile from them but every one in the store smiles also.
and they all leave a little happier than when they came in.

There are many ways to help. This would depend on the need. Sometimes it just takes prayer. Sometimes the Lord provides you with extra to share with others. We are here to share and serve one another. We are here to show the love of Christ to the world in whatever way we can. God provides and we must be mindful that He gives to us so that we will give to one another. One should NEVER look away when one sees a need and is able to help! Whatever we have, knowledge, money, time etc, it is given to us by the hand of God to be shared and not hoarded. The most important thing is to make sure we make ourselves aware of others and a possible need. I think Mother Theresa was a fine example of sharing whatever she had with others! She said that she seen Jesus in every face she helped! May the Lord bless you, Ladyeagle!

Like Outraged (Minister) said, prayer and listening. But also affirming and encouraging people....not just our friends and family. Smile at the people we meet in the store. Say hello, and brighten their day. let them know they are important.

I used to help others. I used to be one of the coolest guys ever. What did it get me? NOTHING! it wound up costing me an AWFUL lot. So I help only my family and nothing else. If you can't help yourself, thats your issue.
