Why does it matter if you are talking to yourself once a day or five times a day? It still is the same mental illness. Its just that illness has now turned to ocd.

The answer to that is that nothing is wrong.
If you are a Christian and you are having bad luck, does that mean God doesnt care?
Prayers are a way to self-cleanse and/or appease a higher being. It does not provide an avenue for immediate protection. What kind of God in any religion would want his people to be immune to everything?
We are put on Earth to learn valuable lessons. Traitors will get their share of fate/punishment/retribution or whatever you might want to call it.
Prayers lead to salvation and this salvation and is not always seen in the form of immediate action. What goes around comes around.
All you need to know is that whether you are religious or atheist everyone should be living according to natural law of morality rather than greed and power. And if praying 5 times a day is a way to abide to this then so be it.
Who's it hurting?

The problem is that we expect God to work the way we want Him too. God does work through our struggles to make us stronger. He has made the faith of many Iraqis stronger.
In James 1:2, God's word describes that our faith will be tested: "Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."
We, and the Iraqi people, should not be discouraged by the evil acts of extremists. We should take hope in our Lord.

The prayers that Muslims do are more praises for Allah than they are personal requests.
In truth, prayers of any kind don't work beyond relieving the immediate stress of the pray-ee.

but just understand from there point of view, that inercent people are dying and that in time of need like this people turn to higher power. its human nature, they are propbaly praying for there afterlife to be peaceful, unlike the tradgerdy they are living through now.

I would say wrong God, then again, who's to say it isn't working? God is not all peaches and cream!
I know from a Christian perspective, that God can mean business if he needs to, and war is not a new concept. Sometimes there is a purpose beyond the understanding of man.

When someone from your family dies after you've been praying for them remind you to ask you all this! Did God "Bless" the USA on 9/11?

Wrong god. The main problem is Islam. See that in nearly all the armed conflicts of today, one of the sides is of Muslim religion.
Additionally, prayer may give you an unexpected outcome.
Note: Jesus is not G-d, neither.
