my friend Brittany is having trouble with her contacts. Some days they cause her eyes to burn and itch, other days they are fine. Your opinions are appreciated!

The best contact lenses are the ones that work best for you, there is no one best lens.

If her eyes burn and itch some days and not others, it may not be the lenses at all. She may be allergic to something that she is exposed to on the bad days, not exposed to on the good days. Allergy could be anything: cats, pollen, makeup, soap, shampoo, perfume, second hand smoke, foods, ......

This answer is not so simple. First of all, the reason her eyes burn and itch can be caused by many things. It could be that she needs another brand/prescription of contacts. It could also simply be that her contacts are too old, or are not being cleaned well. The longer you have had a single pair of contacts, the more protein that will build up on them, which will cause irritation. Regular contact solution will not remove this protein completely. You can get a special solution that is made with peroxide, instead of saline solution, that will remove almost all protein deposits. I can't think of the name of it, but you will be able to tell by reading the box. It can be found just about anywhere, with all the other contact solutions. It just has to say peroxide.

As far as my personal opinion on contact brands, the daily ones are great, because you don't have to worry about this problem. But it totally depends on your friend's prescription and pocketbook as to whether these would be right for her.
There are also contacts call O2 Optics that are great, because they are made specially to allow more oxygen to get to the eye, and I find them superbly comfortable compared to other ones I have tried. But again, it depends on the prescription.
Have your friend evaluate how long she wears each single pair of contacts, how she cleans them, etc. If she still wishes to use a regular saline solution, she should be placing the contact in the palm of her hand and applying solution, and rubbing with her index finger in a circular motion. This goes even for the solutions that say "NO RUB". It is an absolutely necessary step to really remove any protein deposits. Also, how old is her prescription? If it's been about a year, it's time for a new exam.

most importantly, you should make sure first that you wash the contact lens properly with the solution so u know is disinfected from the dirt and whatnot. also, if ur friend is having problems, maybe you should consult a optometrist. maybe ur friend's eyes suffering from an allergic reaction.getting professional advice would be best
