now that most peoples lives have become more sedentary, shouldnt we encourage people to exercise more by creating outdoor running tracks and little mini-parks to exercise in?

by minipark, i mean something like a landscaped park only scaled down so you can dot them around all over a large city so people have one to go to that theyre no more than a mile away from.

they could incorporate a running track for the fit &or energetic...but also have a boundary that older& less energetic people [and pet owners?] can use as a "strolling park" with beautiful planted areas.

I think that would be an excellent idea, I don't know why they haven't thought of it already; it's not like they don't have the money. Everyone could get something out of the parks (like you said, pet owners), it'd be a nice place to walk, and walks should be encouraged just as much as running and healthy eating. I think people don't like the idea of exercising if they have to travel a distance so if they had a park/track within a mile they're much more likely to go. I know I'd rather go to a park right by me every day instead of a boring gym.

Nice idea but I can't see it happening for two reasons council budgets are tight and it might mean a council tax increase to pay for and maintain them and secondly I doubt many town and city borought have the spare space to turn into even a mini park.

Very good idea - my only problem with it is where do they get the money to do it!! They can't financially support the NHS properly at the moment, along with a lot of other stuff.

They should build safer amenities for young children; and put those anti teenager sonar buzzing things near them so they come on automatically at night..

its the councils selling off the larger green spaces,I dont think they care much about making small spaces available-its all comes down to lack of money
