my dad is 70 yrs this yr and we have heard there are themed holiday breaks in the uk where professionals go out with visitors, in the surrounding areas and give advice and tips on getting more form photography, please help we would love to treat my dad to this for his birthday.

I assume that you are living in the UK. Buy a copy of Amateur Photographer magazine (a weekly) or Practical Photography (monthly). Both have numerous advertisements for numerous photographic courses, lasting from a day to weekends to several days at a time. They are held all over the country and cover all kinds of aspects of photography.

Some times Jessops have holidays on offer or short courses. Magazines have adverts for photographic holidays. But personally i think he'd be better of with a local city and gilds course lasting a few weeks and then going on holiday and shooting everything that catches his eye. You may also find a local photography club that will always be looking for new members. They may also offer trips away.
