Why is that? Maybe it's just the ones I've talked to... I mean young earth creationists, anyways, they're the one's I've talked to, I don't know about the old earth creationists... Maybe they actually give sources for their claims... (Ex: the fossil record is flawed, but most people don't care, so scientists fudge the facts. And that evolution is somehow random.) (The second one was a joke, there is no way anyone could possibly believe that evolution is random, if they know anything about the theory. Yes it is a theory, and a theory is something that best explains all the evidence gathered so far.)
Here's my source: Well evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them.

Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape-like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered.

A person who has the same respect for facts as you and I won't be a creationist.

So facts either don't come when you talk to them, or what they view as a fact won't meet our "Fact" standards.

and the first answer ignores the question and spouts the usual, "read the bible"... how the f*** does that help???

well most creationists evidence is "the bible" which is a book. where as most evolutionists will actually refer to measurable factors.
but the creationists get hung up on the fact that a scientific theory is open to change as new EVIDENCE comes to light.

think of it like a building if you like.

Evolution is a large building connected to the ground with 100s of struts and supports.

Creationism is a large building that is connected to the earth with one support strut.

basically if one of the struts of evolution breaks, it stays there and can be reinforced and changed.
creationism, if their one basic prerequisite fails, it's all gone.

You're correct, of course. I live in a secular European country. Religion plays a very small part (if any) in public life. It is a subject never mentioned by politicians for fear of ridicule. The creationist movement here is so small as to be non-existent, but then education standards are far higher here. A huge proportion of people have a third level degree. This is not a coincidence. There are many idiots in your country.

Our source is the Bible. Satisfied?

Oh, and a theory is a tested hypothesis. In order for a hypothesis (or educated guess) to become a theory, it must be tested repeatedly. In order for it to become law, it must be so tested that there is absolutely no other explaination available. By those scientific definitions, evolution is not even a theory.

For the same reason that when some people say that ALL Christians hate this, that, or the other....they cannot prove it. There are no sources.
Yesterday, someone said that Christians commit murder every day. I asked for proof. I got no reply.
Someone stated that Christians steal every day....again, no proof.

I have asked for links from atheists and have gotten no reply.
Granted. though, most of these are little kids pretending to be atheists.

they probably know from experience that if they give you the source you can follow up on it and come back with various reasons why it's complete bunk. wouldn't want that, so they prefer to make vague claims that somewhere, somehow, something is wrong with evolution. you can't refute that, so they can declare victory without ever firing a shot as it were.
