The Bible says:
"Whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believed in me, it were better for him that millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea."
Here also I do not agree with the bIble.

They should be dealt with by the law, not by the church. The church has had time enough to deal with the problem and clergy is not excempted from the law. The law should take in account that these priests abused the trust put into them as priests and as educators.

Revenge should not be our aim. The first aim regarding these weaklings must be trying to re-educate them. If it is deemed that they can not be re-educated, they should be kept away from society like any other dangerous uncurable criminal.

The most important aim must be: give a voice to the people who have suffered. They do not (all) want money. Organise a truth committee that organises the possibility for the victims to speak out in churches, about what happened to their lives, about the feelings of guilt, uncertainty and being left alone by their parents at a moment when they were at their most vulnerable. We should not forget that people who have been molested tend to molest children as well. Not nice to mention here maybe, but facts are facts.

Bring the finances of the church under strict control. Hurt them where it hurts most: in their purse. They have only admitted when it started to cost. The church is guilty as an organisation, the top knew about it and gave instructions to cover it up. They organised a system that carries the disease in its core: priests who can not marry will be attracted to the children they have to educate.
Keep an eye to the priest educators in countries where the church has a dominant position. Bring them to court in their home countries when they are not native.

We should question ourselves about the church as an institute of education. They have failed. The time has come to investigate this and discard the church as an educational system. Priests who are good educators (they do exist) can teach as wel in a government school as in a catholic school. I do not see a problem with that.

It is my personal belief they will still try to cover up.

A small remark regarding priesthood: priest can not be "unpriested" , they are priest in eternity. Every sacrament they give to the faithfull is valid, even if they did not wash their hands.

It might be considered to declare void all marriages done by a paedophile priest. Couples might be a little bit more careful.

To all the people who have been molested: you are not alone. I know (and others) know you still suffer. You are not to blame. You can still love. Make sure you do not make the same mistake. Do not forgive the church untill they really show they are willing to admit fully and change their ways.

A beautiful day!

Clergymen who abuse children are pretty loathsome. But abusing children is pretty loathsome already. I don't think that should be considered in how we treat them.

I'm no expert in Criminal Justice, but I suspect that harsher punishments will make it less likely that people will report molesters, especially if the molester is a popular priest or friend of the family.

In the case of clergyman who abuse children, being removed from their position (and the opportunity to abuse others) and reporting their actions to law enforcement seem like the minimum that should be done.

The focus should be on helping the abused. The church must do what it can to repair the damage that has occurred.

Ya think of?? that's undesirable adequate to be abused with the help of somebody you have confidence, that's even worse while the people who're meant to guard you from such evil deeds faux it on no account got here approximately and deliver Father Fondle someplace else to do it many times and returned. they'd desire to be far flung from service, prosecuted and the church could get rid of the stupid, anti-Biblical rule that church management should not be married. Catholic management takes this concept from Paul who stated, in case you may stay single with a view to better serve God, do it. They pass away out the area that asserts, in case you may not, do not. additionally they misread the belief of "in case you may" and interpret it as a command from Paul, notwithstanding that's blatantly incorrect.

I agree with Big Bang. It is quite simple really they should be reported to the police, ex communicated from the Church and then dealt with under Criminal Law. The real problem is how high have they gone in the Church and who in the Church are able to report them. The Church is acting as a law unto itself, it must not ignore or deal with these alone.

They should be subject to the law, as any other pedophile should be. By the way, I believe priests should be able to marry, but marriage will not help with pedophilia. There are plenty of married child molesters.

Is it better for society to treat criminals "humanely," forgive them, and allow them to repeat their crimes, or to have a penalty so blood-curdlingly harsh that everyone fears it and refuses to commit the crimes?

I would prefer the second option.

With that in mind, simple executions are too lenient because even the death penalty will not deter all crime. What we need is something even harsher. Something that is so horrible to imagine that we will only need to use it a few times before the crime in question is no longer practiced.

In my opinion, the proper punishment for child molestation, rape, and murder would be slowly boiling the criminal alive in a vat of acid.

can we just burn the church down? I mean don't any of you guys find it weird how many child molesters there are in the church? Not shocking to you? WTF is wrong with you people? I can see one or two people being molesters in a church and there being nothing wrong in the whole idea, but it's like 9 out of every 10 people in the church are molesters.

if they are preists etc, then they should be ex-comunicated and the police should be informed (and given evidence if there is any)
on top of that they should introduce phyciatric screening etc.

they are sick!

I've only had respect for one "paedophile" I've met, because he had the sense to admit he had a problem and try to work through it! (he had downloaded pictures, but had seen the doc etc himself, and installed a monitor on his PC that would show 2 of his friends or family what he was looking at)

The Catholic church must stop aiding and abetting these paedophiles through trying to cover up these abuses just to protect the reputation of the church itself, the abuse cases should be immediately referred to the police to be investigated & dealt with properly within the full powers of criminal law.
