i bought a new lap top with linux os,i've windows xp cd at home,can i install it2 computer without affecting on linux?what u advice me to do?thanks

Yes you can but this would have to bo done by partitioning your hard drive, otherwise the windows CD will wipe your Hard drive clean, Personaly i wouldn't bother installing windows, as Linux is a good enough operating system and there is no need to go on to Windows, but if you really insist, on it, the partition the hard drive and install wonsdows on one partition and the other on Linux

Well, depending on the version of linux (Ubuntu, Mandake, ect) you will find a partition manager, just resize your current partition and create a new one for windows.

You can also download microsoft virtual pc (free of charge) install it on linux and install windows within linux!

But I would just use Linux, it is better than windows in most cases.

Nathan H has it right. Don't install using the windows cd, even if you have given yourself space by partitioning.
What will happen is windows will overwrite the linux MBR )master boot record) and you'll have to reinstall Redhat / Susie
