I dont think there is any age to be honest! I moved out when I was 16 because I went off to college!

I think you should stay at home for 16, 17, 18!! Give yourself time to earn some cash! When you feel you are financially stable then take the plunge and not before then!! It really is hard to support yourself when you have had your parents there to do everything for you! We tend to take everything for granted until we have to pay all the bills ourselves!! Rent, Water, Electricity, council tax, TV licence, food!!

Not trying to scare you but dont take the decision lightly! Look into it financially! If you feel you can support yourself take the plunge asap!!

I'm sure your parents dont see it as 'getting out of their way' bet they will miss you!!

I wanted to move out of my house when I was 18. At the time I wanted that because I wanted to be with this guy and I couldn't really tell them that. Because I knew they wouldn't like him so well. But it didn't work out with him, so still living with my folks. They say I can move out by the time I'm 23. I'm 20 now. Their reasoning is because I would be older then and have a job and car and can take care of myself. Still relatively sucks. But I'll live.

When you'll be financially stable and ready or at least have a job (that way, you can afford rent and feed yourself). It would be impractical if you would force yourself to get out of your parent's house and you'd be homeless and starving at the streets. But also, make the effort to earn money for you to live by yourself.

This is not about age its about responsibility......no point in moving out if you cant manage emotionally or financially. Might as well wait for the right moment assuming all is well at home!!

I left home at 16 and joined the RAF. My Mum would argue that this was a tad early as in her eyes I was still her little boy. However, I don't think it did me any harm. I was lucky to have accommodation and food provided though. I think 18-20 is about right....by then its time to let the folks have a bit of quality time to themselves.

It depends on what you and your parents think. But if you're staying past the age of eighteen, you really should pay rent- unless you're in school full time.

You should move out by 18 because you should be in college or learning a trade or skill.

I'd say 25 is the absolute max for still living at home.
