(1) The way it happened was unfair to both Drivers, but it happened because of SPONSORSHIP PROBLEMS( no money coming in). (2) an owner can do whatever they want, the contract is not worth the paper it is written on-yes this is unfair, but this is racing. an owner can release a driver for a number of reasons like....poor finshes, crashing to much, not a fav with the media or ( my favorite) i just dont like you anymore. Look for Regan Smith to replace Marlin at Indy in the #14 car, and Aric Almirola to share driving duties with Mark Martin in the # 01 car starting on AUG 12 at Watkins Glen.

I think Ginn must be having money problems. It seems that he will merge with DEI giving such a team 4 cars which is the limit. I feel that it may be hard for either Sterling or Joe to find a top of the line ride in the Nextel (Sprint) Cup next year. Contracts in NASCAR are broken all the time. Kurt Busch, Jamie McMurray, Kyle Busch (end of 2007), and others have been let out of contracts they have. I know the #13 and #14 are having problems getting sponsors for next year. The #13 is the only new team in the Top 35 which guarantees the team a spot in the next race, so it is unusual for a team to just cease operations with 17 more races to go.

I would say it's harsh, but probably better now than later. This way they can get 2008 in line now instead of rushing around in October looking for a ride. Sterling says he is about done, but Nemechek is a good driver if someone can give him a good car. I think he would be great for DEI's or RCR's 4th team. He is a solid qualifier and would be a great guy to get an expansion team into the top 35.

It was very ignorant on ginns part. I wish them the worst. Sterling acted like he didnt care as long as they held up to their end of the deal. I guess money till the end of the year. His contract is over then anyway. As for as sponsorship, how would a trash company make any more money with a better driver?

Though in the past thes drivers were a couple of good upper-mid level drivers they have somewhat lost sponsor appeal.
The release is about the time you think of it being(midyear).Sterling may find a second class ride or a truck deal.
Joe he will more than likely start his Busch team back.

I think its very unfair that they can drop drivers and replace them that easily. I could understand not having the money and just getting rid of those cars but to find replacements is ridiculous.

I think it is too bad, especially for Nemechek, who runs pretty much mid-standings, I think. Nemechek did say that he didn't understand how they couldn't get a sponsor, b/c he had been told that they had some lucrative offers. I think the comments made by Ginn last night were in poor taste--he basically said he fired them b/c they are older and he wants younger drivers. It may be true, but not very sportsman like.

Fair or unfair, thats how business works. Its no different than you or I getting fired due to poor work performance. No championship contention, no wins, no car. Besides both these guys have been racing for YEARS, maybe its time they hang up the helmets. If I were these 2 with the money they've made over their careers, I'd hang it up and go fishing!
