I bought a HTIB that comes with a HDMI output and recently got a HD compatible lcd monitor which is multipurpose for pc input and a proper tv therefore wish to utilise the HD features. Question comes in, the monitor I using dun come with HDMI input instead a DVI input. Therefore a DVI HDMI cable will works. But then again will the quality lose out to proper HD output to HD input? What are the limitation for this setup..?

If you bought a HTIB there wont be any benefit using HDMI. Most HTIB's come with low-end receivers so the only benefit you would get is HDMI video switching (2in/1out) which would only help you if your tv only has 1 HDMI input.

If your HD compatible LCD monitor supports HDCP, then you should be able to get HD out of your HTIB using a HDMI to DVI cable. Normally the HDMI output of a HTIB system will support only a couple of resolution choices, unlike a computer. You'll most likely be able to choose from 480p, 720p or 1080i. It depends on the the monitor what resolution output would be best, so try to see if you can get 720p or 1080i.
If the HTIB supports Component video, and the LCD also supports it, that is another option, but you could be limited to 480p output. Hard to say without knowing your specific equipment.

Your question makes my head hurt. All kidding aside, try asking one question at a time. You are apt to get good answers that way.

Peace :)

There is no conclusive evidence that HDMI / DVI cables are better than COMPONENT video and RGB.
