I assume you are asking this question from another computer. I have seen this happen when the disk space on your system drive (usually C:) gets too low. So low that it can only get so far through the boot up process and then restarts ( I don't recall right off hand where this is in the process but that is unimportant). If this is your problem you have to create an XP boot CD and then use that CD to boot your computer. once booted clear up some space and everything should be OK. GO here "http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/". Any XP files you need you should be on the computer already that you use to create the boot CD.

It sounds like a problem with your hard drive. Depending on what you have on it you can either try to recover what is on it by taking it to Best Buy or use another computer with recovery software and USB to IDE adapter. If there is nothing important on it or you retrieved all the information off it then try to reinstall your Operating System.

first try booting into safe mode f8 when on restart. Then see if it happens when it is in safemode. If it does its a hd problem or windows corruption problem.then as previously suggested return it 2 a previous windows state by safemode system restore. If this doesnt solve it a reinstall would be a good first step or try buying a new hard drive and reinstalling onto that.then pull your info you want from original onto it.goodluck
