There are several reasons why the Bible is different from all other books. The first is it is a book of history, which means it isn't just a book of theology or philosophy, it is about real events and real people. This is one of its biggest strengths. It is pretty hard to say an event didn't happen when someone can prove it did.
The second thing about the Bible is that it was written by many different people. This means that even if one writter made a mistake, there will be someone else who has corrected that mistake.
The third thing is that the books which comprise the Bible were selected from many thousands, which means that only those which were determined to have definitely been written under God's inspiration got through.
The final thing is that it is the most carefully translated text around. When you read something in the Bible, you can be sure the translator did the best job he could.

The Bible is an unauthorized work of men (I say this because no where in the bible does it say it is an authorized work [collectively], only the Christians claim that) who took what they believed to be authentic writings of "men of God" who knew something about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Even the Old Testament prophets were prophets of Jesus Christ, in all actuality, who was "to come" in the "meridian of time," or before that time, was the "Lord God:" even Jehovah.

Ever since the days of Adam and Eve, the Gospel of Jesus Christ was taught to the children of God. Through the eras, that religion has become corrupted and then restored and then corrupted and then restored, and well you should start to get the picture... a wonderful cycle of "good news" followed by prosperity, followed by pride and wickedness and the rejection of truth, followed by God working his wonders to humble the people again. And this cycle happens today. It is not at all hard to imagine, indeed!

So these writings of these prophets, if you notice, were all written in the same general spot of the world -- the middle east. But what of the rest of the world? Had not God placed people in all 4 corners of the world? Why do we not have the records of other locations then?

Well such records are claimed to have come forth by the Latter-day Saints. The Book of Mormon is a collection of writings of prophets who lived anciently on this American continent. The Latter-day Saints also claim that they are waiting and expecting for even more records to come forth from ancient peoples that were located elsewhere on the earth. And all this seems to be very reasonable.

Meanwhile, you have groups of people claiming to be "Christians" that teach vociferously that the Bible is the "only Word of God." They insist that there are no other scriptures but what is in the Bible, written by people that lived in only one part of the Earth. (ooohhh kay!) And while that kind of doctrine is very helpful for subdueing the ambitions of people (actually having originated from the Dark Age of the World, when religion was enforced by the sword), that kind of creed simply doesn't cut it for those who believe the world is round, not flat. I mean, who else would fabricate some idea that the last quoted writings in the Bible forbid that the writings in his prophecies (those found in the Book of Revelation) means the writings in all the writings that appear to make up "the Bible."

As if "the Bible" has always existed since the world was created or something. And what about before "the Bible" was organized as "the Bible?" Are we to understand that the Christians don't accept any writings prior to their "Bibles" being organized as they now read? All 7,500 of them? (that number is just an exaggeration to emphasize how no two Bibles are the same, because of the good old Christians...)

It's a very controversial topic, but an important one to take sides on. Because the whole issue is very confusing. Every man calling his neighbor a brainwashed ditto-head. Hopefully you won't also takes sides on the "brainwashed" side. I'll leave it up to you to decide for yourself which one is brainwashed. But I'm sure the Christians will not give you that respect. They will certainly push their agenda upon you until you submit.

Its one of the reasons why Thomas Jefferson refused to be united with the Christians -- because he thought they were all a bunch of rubber-necked wackos, even though he never denied his belief in God.

Now this is only the tip of the iceberg, when it comes to religious claims.

the Bible has never been disproven by archeology, many scientific truths were learned by reading the Bible such as the ocean currents mentioned in Job, the Bible does not disagree with the fossil record.
The Bible is God's word to us, that gives us direction in our life. Jesus Christ in the way to God, and the Bible tells us about him
The Bible is the Jewish Old Testament, plus the gospels (stories of Jesus) and epistles written letters by the disciples
The Bible is life changing. If people lived by the words of Jesus there wouldn't be any violence and hate in the world unfortunately that's not possible cause we all have sinful natures (anyways read the books of Genesis and John and you willhave a general understanding)

The Bible is a histroy of Gods dealing with mankind. It is different because by and large it was the word of God inspired to man. The new Testament is the History of Gods gift to mankind of eternal life. A gift is only of value if it is accepted. A history book about the USA would be different than the history book about Canada.

The Bible is God's word to us. It was written by men moved by the Holy Spirit. It is the only book that is inspired by God. It teaches us how to get right with God and to live lives pleasing to Him.
