CHRISTIAN VILLAGER CHOPS MAN TO DEATH, HACKS WOMAN
A man chopped a fellow villager to death with an axe and may have fatally wounded a woman in Madang Province on Monday.
Provincial police commander Pius Sipelung said yesterday that the attacker, a Kanang villager, apparently suspected the two of practising sorcery and of having been responsible for past deaths in the village.
He chopped the man several times on the head, neck, jaw and back, killing him instantly, then turned on the woman and hacked her in the stomach and head. Witnesses said she fled into the bush, bleeding heavily. She has not been seen since and was presumed to have died in the bush as a result of her wounds.
Mr Sipelung said a man had been arrested and charged with willful murder. The situation in the village was tense and police were keeping a close watch.

I think it's like 17 years old and an isolated case. Also I don't believe something just because someone posts it as an "article". I would need independent sources. Sorry, but I have the same response when I see Christians trying to slander Catholics or Muslims. People are evil, religion is not.

Tell me something new. Who said that a Christian cannot commit sin.. and important thing is to know that Christianity is not a religion, its a way of living. I dun think so that person was a Christian though he was doing the Christian things.

The fact that mankind has been killing each other in the name of religion goes way way way back in time. I only have what you say the paper had and that itself is only what the authorities gave out in the first place.
In "Desert Storm" the papers said 90% of Americas missles/bombs hit their targets. We found out later that was not close to being true.

Christianity is often a safe haven for people suffering from psychotic disorders. The very nature of religion is imaginative and religious ideas are often accepted and respected by the general public as religion rather than psychosis. It's unfortunate that episodes like this happen, but religious dellusions are a very common form of psychosis. Unfortunately until something drastic happens, the mentally ill person that turns to religion and religious dellusions is far away from treatment.

I once experienced something like that although it was not nearly as extreme. It did involve a man I believe to be mentally ill. A pastor who taught bible classes at my high school, it was a private high school and religion was required, accused me of being possessed by demons and truly believed this. His dellusion was harmless as he did little to act on it except proclaim his fears to my peers, who later ostrasized me, but his fear of me was very real. Being that he was an authority, my peers, the students began to believe his fears. How did it start? I was shy and refused to read a passage of the bible outloud for the class.

Well there ya go. A news paper in Africa calls someone a Christian and he kills someone, and, there are missionaries in Africa...yup, that's enough to make me stop being a Christian.

(please note the sarcasm)
