Try him in some undies, that worked for my son. If he wets his pants, you're supposed to let him wear them wet for a while so that he doesn't like it & doesn't wet his pants. Try not to get frustrated with him if he does his business in his undies, it makes it worse.

I have heard two pieces of advice. 1) Do like ppl do for the pacifier. Throw away the pack of diapers with the child witnessing it. If the child is smart enough to know the difference, than why if he given the diaper option in the first place? I don't get it? Put him in a training cloth underwear. When he wets it, its very uncomfy. If that isn't enough, teach him that if he decides to be wet, you might as well make him ALL WET because he is dirty.....so give him a cold shower, and leave him wet for a bit. Of course training means that you are dedicated for 1-2 weeks of putting him in his easily washable clothing and you washing the furniture/floor here and there. I feel that hcildren should not be given diapers once training has commenced. It sends a confusing message. They play the adults because they know the difference. Why use the toilet when you could use a diaper? give him a good reason.....like the diaper is gone and you get wet! YUCKY! Be sure to give tons of praise. Baby's R Us sells the little disolving floaty thingys that boys can use to "target" into the bowl. I tmakes it a fun game so that might make him want to pee more often. Feed him lots of salty crackers which will make him drink more...to have more pee opportunities. BEST OF LUCK> I know there isn't one trick for all the kids.

Just a bit of advise. Take it in stride. My pediatrician told me (a mother of 3 boys) that boys usually potty train at 3-4 yrs of age. So, don't rush him. If he is doing well without pants on, keep that up on days you can be home with him at all times. Otherwise, resort to the Pull-ups or Gerber toddler underwear. Let him make mistakes, that is the only way he will learn the difference. Diapers do not allow them to feel the same wetness that underpants will. Give LOTS of praise when he does use the potty. Do not punish him if he makes a mistake. Let him know that accidents happen and continue to praise often for good potty habits. Set a timer (on days you can spend all day with him) every couple of hours to "try" to use the potty. If he truly shows NO interest, let it go and wait until he seems to want to go on his own. Trust me, the first sign that my first son was ready for the potty, we tried and went overboard. He still wets the bed at night and is almost 7 yrs old. Our second son, I just didn't rush. I let him figure out that he was ready to be a big boy and he potty trained in 2 weeks and has never wet the bed. And, just like the pediatrician had said, both of them finally got the whole concept at 3yrs old. I still have one in diapers. He is 21/2. He doesn't show any interest in using the potty and runs if I try to put him on it. So, I am going to wait until he is closer to 3 yrs, like my other two. Good luck!

Yes I think you might be confusing him by putting a diaper on him. If I wore a diaper and knew someone was going to wipe me clean everytime I messed...then i wouldn't go to the potty. Put some big kid undies on him and tell him they are like daddy undies and daddy doesn't potty in them, daddy goes to the potty. (or grandpa or someone he knows well). If he continues, then he just may not be ready. Have some patience with him. He's a little angel that God gave you...he will use the toilet religiously one day and then you will have to clean it. He will grow up soon enough. Good luck.

Have him wear pull ups or training pants & tell him they are big boy underwear & not diapers so he must keep them clean. Also you may want to get him some potty training videos at the library so he will be more intrested in going.

I would only put a diaper on him for bed and the rest of the time keep him in underwear. If you are going out some where you could put a pull up on him. Putting a diaper on him leads him to believe it is ok to go in it. They say boys are harder to train then girls. Just be patient with him. good luck to you and him.
