If I was a Catholic, I'd probably be a nun. The idea of a community where I could just work and meditate, read and sleep, probably get plenty of time to do hand sewing, never have to cope with men -- yes, very appealing. But that's because I am a widow. Perhaps it is a good place for someone with a low sex drive, but I suspect obedience to the rule of the Mother Superior could come hard, if she was an unreasonable person.
As one of the other answerers mentioned, compared to coping with the current world, it sounds quite nice.

Jesus' right hand man, Peter, was a married man.
The teaching of the necessity to become a nun or a monk is not supported by the Bible.
Paul did say that singleness would help towards making more time available for preaching, but that was his op[inion, and not a Bible law.
(Psalm 68:11) Jehovah himself gives the saying; The women telling the good news are a large army.
Do nuns who keep to themselves obey this?
(Acts 20:20) while I did not hold back from telling YOU any of the things that were profitable nor from teaching YOU publicly and from house to house.
Do monks hiding in monasteries obey this?

Well 1st of all we certainly need all the people we can get on this planet to seek and do good, right? no matter if it's goodness thru volunteer work, a nun doing work of such for goodness, or a group of buddhists helping the world through good deeds helping the world, ect.
overall it's a calling. Since they surround their lives with God and growing spiritually with the Holy Spirit, I imagine progressing spiritually is an ultimate feeling of fulfillment and love. Love is the only thing that matters [overall]
Usually most people are not 'all purity' and have had a past or done 'something' that wasn't good in God's eyes, but He is a forgiving God, loves all His children and works through those who allow Him to, as we all have free will.
No, I'm not able to give up everything, I am married, enjoy being married and feel my husband is a gift from the Holy Spirit. I actually couldn't have asked for a better man to be my life partner. I'm far from perfect, only human, although have been and will con't to pray to God for more self improvements so I can help more and give more to other's out of goodness. It just seems like it makes sense that we're all in the same boat as a whole, each one of us makes up a whole and it's so important for each one of us to use our individual talents to help one another both in healings and special individual needs, yes? I think so. :-)
bless you

There are hardly any vocations for nuns anymore. By the way nuns go to convent. Monks go to a monastery.
