it's kept me sober and content, and protected me from making some terrible decisions.

He kept me alive through two emergency surgeries, an abusive biological father, and He has forgiven my sins.

because He promised that he would be. it's in His name.
YHWH (it means "I am", as in i'm here for you, actively present)

Religion, has not, my relation ship with my Lord and Savior Jesus has. My life was pretty rotten, i lied, drank, and so many other things that I am ashamed of now, that I do not want to even mention them, When God came into my life, I lost all interest in what I knew in my heart was wrong all alone. I know without a doubt that my God is there for me, No only has he said he will never forsake nor leave me, I know he is there when I call on him, NO i don't always get the answer that I want, a lot of times I don't but i know I get the right answer.

Do me a favor. Next time you want to ask a question to Christians specifically, leave the word 'religion' out of it. Religion is what people do when they have nothing better than that. Christianity is what people do when they know God. I don't mean to sound dogmatic, but you are attempting to tap into something that means something to me, and I don't like to begin by explaining this. It's starts us off on the wrong foot.

"How has your religion affected your life ?"
The night I got saved I was alone on a dark bedroom. I was trying to trust God instead of committing suicide. When I began to speak to God as though He were there, I had a spiritual experience that definitely told me that God was real. It affected me greatly, because that was over 20 years ago and I am still alive.

"How has God changed your life ?"
As I grew in the knowledge of God I became what the Bible calls 'edified'. I am more confident in what I believe. I know more about it, and it has carried me through some difficult times. I am better off than the drug addict that I was before.

"How do you know that God is there for you ?"
Because He leads me through things that I thought that I could never do before. He is there for me if only I think about Him. Yes, it's a feeling, but there is something more to it than just that. He gives me a sort of compass to show me what is right.

God's Spirit gives me proof of His existence. He not only shows me things but also tells me what they mean. I cannot say that my experiences are typical. But then, I am the one answering the questions that you asked, and I can only tell you what I have done, believe and experienced.

To answer the first question religion has caused me to look at people as Jesus would. I love to help people. I in the words of Francis of Assisi preach Christ daily, and if I must I use words.
To answer the second question, I was a drug addict, I liked to drink and smoke and do all sorts of other stuff. When I gave my life to Jesus and submitted to his will He delivered me from drugs and alcohol instantly. I never had any side effects.
To answer your third question, I know that God is there for me because the bible says he will never leave or forsake me. I talk to God everyday and if you are willing to listen God does talk back.

Well religion has not had much of an effect, but knowing God has made me freer. The things that I needed, I don't need anymore.
I have a peace that I didn't have before.
Touch times still come (I'm in a rough season right now) but God has always been there for me. He has never left me or forsaken me.

Cliff Notes Version: I have nothing against religion, I have one myself. Religion, can be defined as doing something repeatedly and regularly.
The following are simple facts of my experiences.
People who are obviously religious, but who are really evil, can use their religious activities as a smoke-screen. My grandfather was very a active member of his church. He was molesting me even more religiously than he went to church. He started when I was tiny, I'm still recovering.
God helped me survive with visits from child-like angels.
God has always "talked" with me. We still discuss things all the time. I am psychic. Being psychic simply means God speaks to my soul, and I listen. Those of us possessing a soul have psychic abilities. How much depends on what's needed in this life time.

Blessed Be

I don't do religion. However I am a follower of Jesus Christ. He is my Lord and Savior and this decision has effected my life in that I have been given the ability to have The Fruit of the Spirit which is Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self Control.

I know that He is here for me because I depend on Him in all of my trials and tribulations and my joys. He is always here for me. He has answered all of my prayers and calls me His child. I am blessed.

I guess one way I know is because everyone I know is scared stiff of what lies on the other side of death. I have no fear of death at all. Actually, I have a certain amount of time that I will be on earth to do what God has called me to do. I want to do the works that God has called me to do but after that I actually want to go to be with the Lord. Also, I'm not worried about what is happening around me on earth. The world is hurtling towards oblivion(as the title of one book says) but I'm not worried at all. I know the Lord is going to take care of me whatever happens. What's the worst that can happen? I get killed? That just sends me to heaven faster.
If you're an atheist, there is no hope or meaning in life and you have no way of knowing what's on the other side of death.
You look around you and everywhere you look you see design and common sense tells you there must be a designer but not believing in any kind of divine revelation you have no way to know what's on the other side of death. You just have to wait around until you die and come to the other side and hope it's not too late to get things right.
There's no God to help you in our problems. All there is out there is matter, molecules in motion and cold dark space. We're just 'cosmic orphans'. We are the accidental by-product of nature. A result of matter plus time plus chance. There is no real reason for our existence. With no hope of immortality our life leads only to the grave. Our life is but a spark in the infinite blackness, a spark that appears, flickers and dies forever. Compared to the infinite stretch of time, the span of mans life is but an infinitesimal moment, and yet this is all the life he will ever know. If life just ends at the grave then it makes no difference whether one has lived as a Hitler or as a Mother Theresa. Since one's destiny is ultimately unrelated to one's behavior, you might as well live as you please. You die, go into the grave and the worms eat you. That's it. You're gone.
One hundred years after we're dead, very few, if anyone, will know that we ever lived. Then the universe will go on for another 15 billion years and die a heat death. Mankind is a doomed race in a dying universe. Because the universe will eventually cease to exist, it makes no difference whether it ever did exist. Mankind is no more significant than a swarm of mosquitos or a barnyard of pigs, for their end is all the same. No wonder Oliver Wendell Holmes, one of America's most famous legal minds(and also an atheist), once said that he saw no difference between a man, an ant and a rock. The same blind cosmic process(evolution) that coughed them up in the first place will eventually swallow them again. Atheism says that man is just a lump of slime that somehow evolved into rationality. No wonder that even in this country, the suicide rate is is in the stratisphere and 25-30 million people are clinically on drugs for depression. That's the bi-product 40-45 years since we changed our culture from a christian culture to a secular culture back in the 60's during the sexual revolution. You could also throw in education scores that have fallen through the floor, divorce rates that's in the stratisphere, crime rate that's in another dimension,......drug, alcohol and sexually transmitted disease rates that are in outer space along with aids rates and you might also throw in 40 million dead babies(abortions).
I have meaning in my life and purpose and an eternal future.

God has changed me and the person I am, I am allot better person than I use to be. I use to be filled with hate and unforgiven, and now I can forgive people I can love people I couldn't love before. I know God is here with me cuz I feel him in my heart, when I do wrong I feel guilty and that's makes me what to just do better. I strive to be who God wants me to be,a better person.God has blessed me and my life, he has made himself well known to me, I don't understand how some people CAN'T believe.

If you live your life in God idealism, you are living in a happy, joyful, peaceful, loving, hopeful & assured beautiful eternal future everyday of your life.
You are ready to whatever will happen every seconds of your life. So...relax, calming, soothing wordly life.

Because you will become God`s best friend...you will enjoy His shared wisdom and the all abundant blessings existings (for everybody.) He will reveal Himself to you...and you`ll know Him well...while trillions of worldly populations are struggling to know him even... scantily.

Try your best to know God in whatever trying capacity you can show...if God sees the humility, eagerness & enthusiasm of your intention to know Him at least...I`m sure He`ll reach your hand in welcoming you into His house, realm & His Kingdom.
From the on, all the proofs you needed are just right in front of you..........

So, Good Luck!!! ...and...God Blessed !!!
