Me & my family are considering taking a vacation sometime in mid October or November. Last year we took a 7 day cruise to the Mexican Riviera. It was fun but way too long on a boat. This year we do not want to spend as much but want to get away for about 4 to 5 days max.
Does anyone have any suggestions on where to go or what to do? We want something fun, relaxing and also, a place that will keep teens entertained as I will have my girls with me.

One thing to add we have always dreamed of one day going to Hawaii but feel its probably way out of our league. Does anyone know of some bargains or discounts to where we can possibly take a vacation there sometime? Me & my two daughters have never fllown in an airplane either. So we are clueless when it comes to flying.

We spent about approxamatly $3000 or more for the cruise and this year funds are a bit tight so we don't want to spend that much.
The Hawaii thing most likely will have to be in the far future
But~
I am all ears

Give Hawaii a try. There are a couple of companies that have some great deals. Pleasant Hawiian holidays has handled several trips for us and we were suprised at the value that they provided. Also, Check you local paper for deals in the sunday travel section. Oahu is great. Here are some things to do.

The cool thing about Oahu is that there is everything to do. You can go to Waikiki and take a catamaran booze Cruise for $10.00 all you can drink. Just walking the strip at Waikiki at night is fun with all the street performers and people watching. Good shopping. Great surfing and diving all over the island. Sea Plane and glider flights at reasonable prices. Hit the north shore and the Haleiwa area and see some of the best waves in the world. And if it’s flat the fishing and snorkeling is spectacular. There are water falls, parks, concerts, and an amazing area of Strip clubs. (Not to my taste but available). Try Dukes for cocktails at Waikiki on Sunday afternoon. Beautiful people watching. Go to the Hawaii Yacht club on Friday night and ask for a ride on one of the big sailboats for the beer can races. Right after the races there are Fireworks on the point at the Sheraton. Have Lunch at tropical licks. It’s a cart by the Chart House that serves some the best tacos in the world. Tell Jim that Randy said Hi. The list goes on and on. Absolutely one of the best vacations in the world. I am envious. It will be awhile before I get back there.

PS there is a great old restaurant on Sand Island. La Mariana. It is this Great Tiki bar and it might be the last Real Tiki bar in the Islands. Sand Island is kind of Isolated and La Mariana serves a small Yacht club there. The Place is all Bamboo and blown up Puffer fish. Gorgeous waitresses and the old Lady that owns the place comes down, holds court and greets her guests. The food is just spectacular. With thick and hot Juicy steaks, Ice cold beer and great cocktails. There is a small piano bar and I swear that the same guy has been playing that piano for thirty years. The place was built at the beginning of WW2 and really hasn't changed that much. The old Bamboo has a kind of inner glow that only comes with age and care. It’s really great. Most tourists never find it because it’s off the beaten track. Check it out. You won't regret it and the price is right.

So if that doesn't get you thinking nothing will. Make the effort. Hawaii is absolutely wonderful and not as expensive as many people think.

First of all a vacation is all about relaxing, spending time together, and making memories.
There is no rule that says you must leave the country (I KNOW Hawaii isn't leaving the country) or that you must get on a boat or plane.
I've been all over our country with my job. There is a lot for your family to explore in your own back yard.
I don't know where you live, but if you are planning a fall vacation you may want to consider Maine, Vermont, and New Hampshire. The area is historical, the Maine coastline amazing. You can get lobster at an affordable cost. And the trees turning colors are something you will never forget. They have adorable B&Bs up there too.
