To play soccer you need a lot of stamina and be able to run run run run run!...if it's not hindering you than go ahead and try out, hell you might lose some of that weight. I'm around 240 and I can run faster than some skinny people!...it all depends.

As long as you can make the team.

What isn't okay is being fat, and soccer is a good exercise to lose weight. You are running which will help a lot in both losing weight and in your soccer game.

In a game that requires you to train and to exercise on a schedule and usually every day, you have a regular exercise program and that is the best way to get fit and to lose weight.

I say go for it, try out for the team and I hope you make it!

Why do you look skinny in the picture? jk

The answers that others have given you are very true. It does not matter if you are "fat" or if you are incapable of playing the game well. It is the will that one has that drives the person in reaching his/her goals. By all means, try out for the school's soccer team. Don't worry if you don't get accepted to the team or are accepted and only put in the bench; if you try hard and the coach sees that you are truly trying, he will give you the chance at being put in a better team position to show your talent. So try it out and remember, there is next year's soccer team tryout. Just don't loose that will and try hard...

Yes, depending on how fat one is. At my size, 550 plus pounds, soccer is no longer feasible. I recently tried playing racquetball again with my father and found I was not able to move well enough. I fell down many times when reaching for the ball and had to be helped up a number of times. Oh well, back to walking and swimming.

What your size is doesn't matter. You'll need to be able to keep up and support the team & that can be tough when you're carrying extra weight. You may find once you've hit your target weight soccer is even MORE fun. :)

I say try out, it can't hurt. If you don't get on, ask the coach what might better your odds the next year. But give it your all, show your tricks & good luck!!

Soccer takes a great deal of endurance to keep running up field and down field. You need to stay within your limits and not over do it. I would have to guess your high school team will very competitive so, don't feel bad if you don't make the team. just go out there and give it your best shot and no regrets.

to the point, yes.
Yes it is fine, for an overweight adolescent to play soccer. As long as it does not pose a health risk. Have you been cleared by your doctor? If so, You can play as long as you can keep up. No reason not to. A nutrionist could help you safely drop a few extra pounds, before season starts.

Most definitely and it is awesome exercise! Just don't over exert yourself. Pace yourself since there is a lot of running in soccer. Good luck and always go for what you want to do especially if it is of benefit to you physically and mentally. S~

You're not fat. Your BMI (Body Mass Index) is within normal range. You sound like you take good care of yourself. It's normal during adolescence for their to be redistribution of fat and muscle so you think you're "fat". Relax you're not fat and as you get older your body weight will redistribute into a more mature figure. So don't worry to much about you're diet as long as you're eating fairly well and exercising.
