That's their job. The hours are long, the workload is similar to monkhood, they are separated from family and friends and placed in generally a hostile environment.

I no longer agree with their message, but I admire what they put themselves thru simply for the experience.

While they are most certainly broke, if you feel the need to 'give them something', water or a snack (or meal) would be an act of kindness they may not see for a long time.

Yes, but they usually don't return a second time. First, I ask them to explain about the resurrected Jesus appearing in America and the advanced civilizations that supposedly existed here at the time with cities and chariots and the like. Then I speculate on how likely that would be and why we have absolutely no archeological evidence. About now I let them know I am an atheist. I like the pamphlet idea though. Much shorter, just exchange literature. =)

If I knew each little thing approximately what the Mormon church believes (from LDS doctrine and components) till now i replaced into baptized, I by no ability could have been baptized. The doctrines you gave are just some examples of ways Joseph Smith perverted the genuine gospel of Jesus Christ. i think of if human beings knew all that the church believes they might run away. they might see the way it blatantly is going against the Bible and makes Jesus out to be a liar. one subject i like approximately Christianity is there is not any surprises. i don't would desire to stress approximately getting to understand some thing new, that my new church believes in a three hundred and sixty 5 days from now .With the Mormon church there is often some thing new you're listening to or getting to understand approximately, that the church believes. BTW- you're saved by ability of excepting Jesus as your Savior not baptism.

Yes and they were kind and considerate people.

That said I don't agree with their take on life and asked them to go away nicely and they left.

My uncle is house ridden so he enjoys there company even if only for a chat.

Hey he even offers them coffee, tea and biscuits.

Yes, now and then while growing up. A few years back, my husband invited them in--very uncomfortable for me and our kids! (We had/have no intention of changing our religion, and therefore didn't see the point of inviting them in.) They "bugged" us quite a bit after that.

So far, I've been LUCKY enough not to. And probably never will, if they continue to OBEY the "No Solicitors" sign on my door!
