My sons middle name is Cale. My wife got to pick his first.
Yes I remember them well, although not a big fan of the Allison's I respected them for and most drivers that are good not only on the track but off too.
I remember on race where Donnie A's bumper just like fell off and it turned into a rocket ship. And off course the Cale/ Bobby fight. I can still hear Cale grunting from the G - force he was under probably at Daytona while being on one of the first in car cameras.

BUT THE THING I MISS OF ALL IS THE GENTLEMEN THAT RACED THEN?

REMEMBER THE GENTLEMANS AGREEMENT WHEN CAUTIONS CAME OUT?

REMEMBER THE IF YOU BUMP ME I WILL BE BUMPING YOU BACK. W/O A FINE / SUSPENSION / PROBATION LOSS OF DRIVERS AND OWNERS POINTS.

REMEMBER THE TRUE OLD TRACKS THAT HAD SOME CHARACTER TO THEM NOT A SET OF GRANDSTANDS THAT HOLDS 150 TO 180 THOUSAND PEOPLE AND OH YES LET PUT A TRACK IN THE CENTER OF IT AND IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT SIZE. OUR CORPORATE SPONSOR JUST WANTS THE MONEY.

REMEMBER WHEN DRIVERS WERE 11TH OR 13TH IN POINTS THEY WERE JUST THAT 11 TH OR 13TH NOT A NOBODY BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T MAKE THE CHASE?

There are many more things I miss and wish there could be a few changes so I could stand to watch more races but life goes on.

I have seen videos of some of the older guys. The farthest back I can recall is, I did see Richard Petty racing. I remember when Bill Elliot drove the #9 Coors Light Thunderbird. One person that I will always remember, the late, great Alan Kulwicki in the #7 Hooters. He is the only owner/driver champion that I am aware of (yet I never researched it). Davey Allison was a young gun in the Texaco Havoline ride. I remember when Dale Jarret drove the #18 Interstate ride and Jeff Gordon was a rookie in the Winston Cup Series. I remember Harry Gant and Neal Bonnett. I know this is not quit as far back as you are talking, yet I am only in my 30's.

Yes! I remember them. That was when I really enjoyed racing. I was living in Daytona in the 60's. My friends & I used to drive our motorcycles around town while wearing only bathing suits, looking for Mario Andretti. We found him at a bar with his buddies. I also got to ride around the Daytona Speedway on the back of a cop's Harley XLCH. The banked turns are so steep, it scared the heck out of me. haha He told me that you have to be going at least 60 mph on the banked turns. He was going well over that. wow! Those were the days! Thanks for sparking my memories! I'll have a nicer day now.

I do, but I loved the 80's racing most.

Awesomebill, I don't remember those 2 going at it, but I do remember Donnie and Cale going at it at Daytona.

Yep. I remember the old Plymouth Roadrunners with those spoilers that look like the ones on the modern day top fuel dragsters.

Remember when A.J. and Bobby went at it?
