I agree with you that the average education of illegal immigrants is about grade 4. I, personally, have met several from Central America and I do know that in most of those countries, children do usually only go to school to grades 4 to 6. As well, their grades 4 to 6 education is no where near the equivalent here. After that, most leave to work and if they want to go to school further, it is often too expensive for most of the people. However, I am not saying that ALL people from Mexico and Central America have average grades 4 to 6 education - but most illegal immigrants do. I would say that most LEGAL immigrants have high school to university educations and that is why they bother to come legally.

However, you are right that such people as those who are here illegally are grossly under and uneducated and therefore are not net assets to the country because they generally tend to soak up more social benefits than they pay into our society because of their low incomes and willingness to work for such low pay.

It's sad that Republicans think they are a threat.

But then Republicans have an average 4th grade education, speak little English and have no understanding of this country's culture or history.

The goverment especially the irs wants them here just ask any tax payer service how much the irs takes every year from illegals.ok just say for the sake of it 1000 bucks times that times 12 million = 12 billion now u see why they want them here.illegals get a pin number to do their taxes but at the end of year the irs ask then for a social security number if they provide a pin number is not valid and therefore illigals dont get a penny back.It all goes into the irs coffers as unclaimed money easy money the IRS is very smart keep them comming.and what the us does with that money probably sends to war torn countries like iraq and to make more weapons and recruit more soldiers now u know.word

much less time for different matters like math and technology. in case you want to characteristic this in to the college day your going to need get the time from someplace. What are you going to cut back back or replace to make way for this? money does not exist just to amplify the college day or perhaps make the college 3 hundred and sixty 5 days longer. So the drawback is a extremely common one. with a view to put in mandatory Spanish training in to the college curriculum you will would desire to take some thing out or cut back back on some thing. Now that stated I have no situation with making 2 years of a distant places language a call for to graduate from severe college yet there might want to be innovations as properly Spanish (IE chinese language, jap, Arabic etc)

I presume you are speaking of the 12 million latinos. You are not asking the right question. The question is not how could they possible be an asset, but rather what do we have to lose if we ignore them.

As Americans like to measure things with the almighty dollar, you might want to know that illegal immigrants are doing work that Americans normally wouldn't do because they a) don't like it (e.g., because the job entails too much physical effort or the job is considered demeaning somehow) or b) it doesn't pay enough. In short, illegal immigrants are already contributing to the country's economy, and it would be very interesting to see what kind of a hit the U.S. economy would suffer it all illegals magically disappeared somehow.

As for them not speaking English or having any knowledge of "this country's culture or history", that can be said of almost every single immigrant who ever landed on American soil, including a scruffy bunch of Englishmen who came over on a ship called "The Mayflower." Remember, if you're not an American Indian, you're an immigrant or the descendent of immigrants.

The people that provide them jobs seem to think they are an asset.

If there were no jobs for them, they would not come.

Jail the employers and they will stay in their own countries instead of coming here for a better life.

AWESOME question.

I love the "They'll do the jobs Americans won't do" responses.

You're half right.

I won't do ANYTHING for $2.00 an hour. But an illegal will!

Just wait until the illegals want YOUR job, and are willing to work for half of what YOU get paid.

And Coragryph, yes, speaking English in America IS BETTER. What are you talking about? Here's an idea. Let's split our country so that one half speaks english, and the other speaks spanish. What could possibly go wrong?

Actually its an average 8th grade education .. if that makes a difference.
Well and im sure some of them speak english.

Some of them could be assets, IF they were legal. Personally I wont even consider it otherwise.
