As a sparsely populated country, well actually 21 Million people in a land mass the size of the USA. Will anyone attempt a land invasion here ? Indonesia would seem to be the only threat, but even with the Worlds Largest Muslim population, they couldn't afford to keep a War Plane in the sky long enough to reach Australian soil ! Especially without our immense amount of foreign Aid. Given our rugged terrain and the location of the majority of our defences in the Northern Territory, will anyone attempt a land Invasion or air strike again here ?

Conranger1, can you read the Question mate, I have clearly marked Indonesia as a possible future threat (even though their still a developing country !). Do you empathis more with Muslim extremist than the ancestors of those who fought for England ! Anyway 21 years fighting for Ireland, I would have fought you would despise England and its "superiority" complex !

If you think critically, why in the world would we want to invade Australia and why would we misuse foreign aid for military force anyway? Invading other country without any specific vindication is pointless; waste of live and money. We still have many important issue to settle rather than war.

Why don't you do some research before you write this rubbish. We are not defenceless and we are not in imminent danger of invasion. It may surprise you to know that if and when the need arises we have our own defence forces and they are not to shabby. Know a bit about your country and its history before you start rambling. This site is a good start:
http://www.diggerhistory.info/pages-battles/ww2/coral_sea.htm
"We are grateful for American intervention in the Battle of the Coral Sea but the fact is that only the ANZAC force stood in the way of a Japanese capture of Port Moresby and the complete isolation of Australia from the rest of the world. Not only that, this action and the Coast Watchers, together with our Intelligence staff and support teams, weakened Japanese strengths at the later Battle of Midway."

Well look what happened after the last great Invasion. . . . . whoops bet you forgot the white man is not native to the Australian continent,
they were just shipped out there as convicts they did not want back in the UK and Ireland.
But I doubt if the Aborigine Peoples will be able to rise up and chuck you out, maybe they will invite Al Quadea to come and help them, after all the Muslim country of Indonesia is not so far away.

What in the name of Christmas are you rambling about? Are you even asking a question or are you boasting about Australia's defensive capabilities? Why would anyone invade Australia anyway? It's probably one of the least likely places on Earth where a war would take place in the foreseeable future.

No need to. The Aussies are now very busy waging war against the invasion by an ever increasing kangaroo population.

well the japanese almost did it during WW2 only for the US to interfere and defeat them in the battle of the coral sea.if the japanese navy won that battle i do believe australia will be invaded by japan.after all the battle was about japanese army and airforce trying to established an air strip at port moresby in papua new guinea.japanese bombers and torpedo planes did sunk a few australian war ships in the Darwin harbour during the early stage of war.

Ru stupid anyone with half a brain would know that if anyone wanted to rule Australia they would only have to populate it with their imagants till they had enough here to control the voting numbers and that would only take one genaration to acheave.
