I quit a job in the early nineties and started hanging out at the beach here in San Diego.

I'll never forget that the first time I walked into the Greeen Flash after I quit, the waitress--who had never seen me before--said, "You certainly look relaxed."

I played golf, took books to the beach, listened to my CD player, until I ran out of money.

One day I got up and decided to go to Tucson. So I did. Spent three days there.

Another time, I drove to Pennsylvania, spent a month there, and came back to San Diego by way of Canada.

Another time, I went to Vegas on the spur of the moment, driving via Yuma.

I am in some sorry financial condition today, but boy, I had a good time.

And I'm not sure I wouldn't do it all over again the same way.

Note: I had some financial cushion, as I was drawing a monthly check from the government....but it didn't last!

I know exactly what I would do.....because I just did it about 2-3 months ago!!

I am now an In-Home Spa Consultant with BeautiControl.....now I work 6-10 hours a week and make full-time money.

BeautiControl offers in-home spas.....just what women are looking for!!! We offer total skin wellness, using tomorrow's technology today. We also have fabulous spa products and cosmetics.

Our home shows are like no other....women just LOVE them, because they are all about relaxing, rejuvenating and being pampered the entire time they are there....

I have a Master's Degree and I recently stopped working my full-time job to have more time for BeautiControl and things are going GREAT!!!

Check out my website - with you're kit you receive everything you need to get started (which is about $450 worth of full size products) and 6 hours of professional training. Plus up to 50% commission!

I would be more than happy to answer any questions that you might have.

Well, I'd have lined up a replacement job BEFORE I quit, so I'd probably take a week off then start the new job.

Quitting without a replacement job is either stupid or desperate. I can see quiting if you were sexually harassed or about to punch someone's lights out, but short of that, you should have kept calm and arranged for that new job. If your emotions got the best of you, then you'd better start polishing your shoes tonight, because you'd better start looking for a new job tomorrow!

Good luck!

First, I'd wait until I found a suitable replacement before quitting. If I quit, though, before finding a replacement, I would treat my job search like a job (get up in the morning & make a plan for sending out resumes and then stick to the plan, figure out who you need to follow up with after sending resumes or phone or personal interviews and then follow up with them). Do this for the entire morning, take a reasonable lunch break & then hit it again in the afternoon. If you stick to this, you should find a good job in a short amount of time.

If your resume isn't getting a good response rate or if you want help structuring your job search, with interview skills or offer negotiation, go to http://www.free-resume-help.com to find advice in those specific areas.

If I could quit my teaching job, I would go to college full time and finish my pre-med prerequisites. Then I would take the MCAT, apply to med school, and be a doctor. Right now, I'm teaching and taking classes at the same time. It's very exhausting (except during the summer).
