a tattoo artist tells their clients to stay away from anything with fragrance because it is the most responsible thing to tell a customer due to the fact that in the majority of cases, it is the best choice. i sometimes use soaps with scents on my tattoos, especially if they're in the stage of healing that yours is in, when it is almost healed, just flaking a little bit. i know how my body reacts to certain products and i know what works and doesn't work for me. everyone is different. if you feel you must, i would say at this point of the healing process, it's okay because you no longer are dealing with a fresh wound, and the odds of irratation are extremely low. just make sure you know that it is close to healing. did it just START to flake, or has it been flaking and you're just in the last stages with a few little flakes left over? if the latter is more your situation than it's all right. if you just started flaking, wait a little while longer just to be safe. i want to make clear that i am not saying that it's okay to use products with fragrances all the time, especially on a fresh tattoo. i'm just saying that i know that personally, i can use them at a certain point on my body because i have tons of tattoos and i know how my skin reacts to different products. being as how i don't know you or your skin type or anything, i wouldn't reccommend it on a normal basis. however, since you claim you're just dealing with an almost healed tattoo, i am pretty sure nothing bad will come of using scented soap. you have no open wounds, so you'll be fine. just consider what i asked about how long it's been flaking. and i guess if you have any doubts, just don't do it. but also, if you're at the stage where you are using lotion instead of ointment, then it also sounds to me that it's safe to use scented soap. i know i kinda rambled on there, i just wanted to make sure i made my point.

you finished a half sleeve tattoo yesterday and it's almost healed???? that isn't possible. you should be washing the tattoo a few times daily with antibacterial soap. most have atleast a little fragrance, use dial or something similar as well as whatever ointment or lotion that your artist suggested.
did you mean that you finished your sleeve last week on a wednesday, 8 days ago?

Just carry on using unfragranced soap, pat dry and use a good unscented moisturizer, this is all I have done on all my ink(over 50 hours) I take it it is flaking like the peal of an onion?

I wouldn't recommend it. Get some A & D ointment and put a small amount over it and it will be fine. Flaking is just part of the healing especially on a big tat.

It's usually best to use no fragrance, but if it's almost healed it shouldn't cause much of an issue.
