What job fields are best suited for soemone who loves languages?

I love languages and learning about them.

Other than teaching, what are some career opportunities in this field?

If you can speak and write in several languages-a job as an interpreter in either the government or private industry. Would give an opportunity to travel without cost and get paid as well.

Hi, I'm a translator (Japanese to English). One piece of advice. Don't just count on your language skills alone. To be a successful translator, you should pick a field of expertise (finance, medicine, diplomacy, whatever) and concentrate on getting a good reputation based on your knowledge of that field as well as your language skills. Trust me, a jack-of-all-trades translator is usually not capable of handling the good jobs because the high-level work requires serious industry knowledge. Been there, done that. It's hard making a living translating simple business letters and government pamphlets.

You could work as a translator (verbal or written translations) in many fields, companies, organizations. You could work for an embassy or consulate. You could be a liaison for a country that speaks the language you want to work in.

If you want a really big job that involves languages, you could be the translator at the UN.

Translator would be an obvious one. Import/export specialist preparing paperwork in several languages would be another. A diplomatic aide in an embassy or consulate would be another. And of course being a CIA or NSA spy would be another.
