If you trained as a Navy corpsman and good enough to be assigned to FMF

Nurses are commissioned officers--in the Navy, not the Marines; also, a BS in nursing is required.

A corpsman would very definately be a Marine--and would go through the Marine basic training first, then training to be a medical corpsman. These are enlisted, so you could enlist right out of high school if you qualify.

Hope that helps.

two entirely different things. NURSES are Officers, you must have at the very least a BSN before applying.

Navy Corpsmen in the Fleet Marine Force are NOT Marines, but they are treated very well by the Marines they take care of in the field. you do receive some small bit of training, but it is nothing like marine Boot Camp. and not every HM is part of FMF, either.

If you trained as a Navy corpsman and good enough to be assigned to FMF (Marines) You will train with them and deploy, work, eat, sweat, cry, laugh with them! some have died with them in battle! They will treat you as a fellow Marine! You also get to wear their cammies while assigned to them.
Unfortunately, You are the "Doc" and still a Navy Corpsman!
You will experience and gain knowledge that other Corpsmen will never get the oppurtunity to do.
and with this assignment with the Marines, it will help you get you promoted in the Navy!
If you are really Gung-Ho, try becoming a Navy seal!
