I just bought two of their books after much reflection and finding them detailed and to the point. It seemed to be high magick that would take time to master... Any thoughts?

I agree. It's not something to play with. One of the books is very explict in their description. I've been interested for a very long time but now I'm moving toward them...

High magick is difficult and doesn't allow for any mistakes. It's a very formal magick. Very rich in ritual. Depends on how much time you want to devote to magick. Low magick has merit, too. You can choose one or practice both. Good luck with your studies.

The High Magick of the HOGD is very detailed, rigid and ritualistic. It does NOT allow for any deviation at all for it to be successful. Any spells in a book must be suspect because the OGD tends to hold their spells in tight secrecy, realizing that High Magick is "sacred" and NOT for the general populace. That is why I tend to stick with "Low" magic of nature and Wicca. That doesn't mean that the HIGH Magick is any better or any worse than any other Magick, only that it has a certain structure to it and if not followed exactly, it can backfire on the practitioner. Remebmer, in Magick as in Wicca, there is NO right way nor ONLY way to do things. The ONLY thing that is right is IF it works for YOU as an individual.

Stop playing with things you don't understand! thats stuff is dangerous if you don't have a mentor or shaman around, you must never dabble in magick, what you don't know can kill you or hurt some one very badly. Find an elder in the community to teach you how to preform the rituals. be good and stay out of trouble!

Magick or Magic or Illusion is simple.
These things have to do with the earths elements.
The attachment to such toys can be most trying for man.
They have ruined many a good human.
Seek "Wisdom", and transcend all the toys, arts, and sciences.

its one of those things that has alot of mystery and such
it has some kabbalistic things incorporated into it, and is rather interesting.
I do know some of the stuff thats there with the golden dawn based rituals are some very serious stuff that is not something to play with.
My Tarot Deck is the Golden Dawn version. it uses alot of kabbalistic and hebrew imagery and perspective. its one of the more obscure serious decks too, as far as I was able to tell.

I haven't heard of this, I am relatively new to magic. For me, it is a personal effort, a step into a different place for a moment, I don't know enough about this to comment, but I think I will look into it. You have piqued my curiosity.
