I am interested in gunsmithing as a hobby and have no idea how to get started. Book? Video? Class? Etc. And if there is a good book or video available, can anyone recommend one?

I went to a school in Colorado to learn my Gunsmithing trade. There are some video's available but they will only cover the basics. There is a lot of specialized tools you will need both hand and motorized if you get serious. There is a company called Brownell's that has a website on the Internet . They are the largest supplier of Gunsmithing tools, parts and books, and video's in the U.S. They print a large catalog annually that you can purchase for $5 and then you get $5 off your first order. Great company, great people. They even have a telephone help line with live techs to help you with gunsmithing questions or problems. I've been dealing with this company for over 25 years.....

Get a copy of Shotgun News or Gun Digest and look for the advertisements. Google Gunsmithing, too.

Get a subscription to American Rifleman through the NRA. When you sign up for membership.. (for like 25 bucks i believe) you can pick from several different publications. The American Rifleman has a lot of DIY gun smithing articles and links to training and gun smithing supplies. The articles themselves teach you a great deal... in great detail.
