I'm a christian, however i don't go to church i am disgusted by how many corrupt things that supposedly "holy/godly" religions do:

1)mormons males have about 13 wives each
2)catholic priests and little boys, does any more need to be said?
3)muslims have either directly or indirectly been responsible for millions of deaths starting from 9/11.
4)christians beat their kids and use that one ephesians verse as an excuse to do so(i know becuz i was one of those kids)

the religious systems(church) claims to be holy but in reality, its just like anything else...corrupt! How can u people do things like this and say ur doing this under God's name?!

i don't mean to generalize or offend anyone, i just thought i'd bring this up becuz people think that just cuz someone claims to be holy, that means whatever they say is true...i'm tired of people just doing what their told to do, more independent thinking would be nice

AND TO ALL THE DUMBASSES WHO THINK I'M AN ATHEIST POSER, WOULD I LIE ABOUT MY RELIGION AND THEN ASK A QUESTION LIKE THIS? WHY? WHAT WOULD BE THE POINT?!

and as much as we like to beat around the bush, we have to face the facts, everything i listed DID happen

i forgot the exact place where the verse was, all i remember is that it said something like "parents have the right to strike their kids with a stick" and it's somewhere in ephesians, people plz do not get me wrong, i am not saying ALL religions are like this, i'm just saying that it annoys me that people who claim to be holy do these kinds of things. And even tho mormoms banned poligamy now, that doesn't reverse the many years when they practiced it, another thing about mormoms, the book of mormom in itself is a sin, in revalations at the end it says "i warn everyone who hears the prophecy of this book...if anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in the book." as far as i'm concerned, the book of mormom is an extension of the bible which IS adding on to it

Why do you as a so called Christian lump everyone together? These are all different religions that do not believe the same doctrine.
You can't compare Chinese food to Mexican or Indian food to be the same.
If you ate a bad hamburger..would you lump all hamburgers as bad? Would it totally stop you from eating altogether?

God warned us that not all religions lead to Him.

Also I don't know what your talking about beating of kids. It says that we should not spare the rod and spoil the child. Meaning that children need to face consequences for wrong doings in order to learn.
If you knowingly break the law and decided to drive 55 on a 35 mile and hour road you would be stopped by an officer and would expect a ticket for breaking the law.
Same thing is applied here. If you didn't fear the consequences of the sin then you would do it over and over again. God is a just God and expects sin to be punished when neccessary. This doesn't mean child abuse.

Churches are made up of humans and are not perfect. There is no such thing as a perfect church and if you find one ..then don't go to it because it wouldn't be perfect anymore.

We are all sinners..that is why we need God. You have an anger that is not healthy for a Christian, we are called to be gentle spirited but wise in His word.

Mormons are not Christians and neither are Muslims. Any one that molests children are not holy nor should they remain in the Priesthood (no exception).

I spank my children and they learn from it. There is more than one verse to back up spanking children. Needless to say I spank and discipline as I see fit and do my best to administer it right. My children love me and do not fear me because I am consistent and when it is over it is over. I never let the punishment drag on. They are 3 and 5 years old and they are a delight. Because I started early I hope not to have as many issues later in life. So far this seems to be holding true. When you have kids you may change your mind. I was beat too and I still know the worth of spanking. I know how to do it right though. You were spanked poor baby get over it and grow up.

As for Church. Yes many are indeed corrupt. It is an old curse. Any church over a week old will start to have troubles. Even in Jesus time the Jewish people had these same problems and Christians are not exempt. There are Bible verses that tell what punishment awaits those that abuse their position.

You seem to be smug and self righteous so you might as well come back to Church with the rest of us hypocrites. You can even sit by me and my poor abused children.

You need a little help in your effort to get a answer to this question for what you say is correct, but to make people understand it takes more imformation.
By the fourth century C.E., that old serpent, Satan the Devil, had brought forth his masterpiece of deception, the apostate religion of Christendom—a Babylonish system hidden under a “Christian” veneer. It is the principal part of the seed of the Serpent and has developed into a multitude of conflicting sects. Like unfaithful Judah of old, Christendom carries a heavy bloodguilt, having been deeply involved on both sides in World Wars I and II. Some political rulers in Christendom even used these wars as a pretext for slaughtering anointed servants of God. Reporting on Hitler’s persecution of Jehovah’s Witnesses, a review of Friedrich Zipfel’s book Kirchenkampf in Deutschland (Fight of the Churches in Germany) stated: “One third of them [the Witnesses] were killed, either by execution, other violent acts, hunger, sickness or slave labor. The severity of this subjection was without precedent and was the result of uncompromising faith that could not be harmonized with National Socialistic ideology.” Truly, it can be said of Christendom, including its priesthood: “In your skirts there have been found the blood marks of the souls of the innocent poor ones.”—Jeremiah 2:34.
To some they will never see this truth because they follow the lie. (2 Corinthians 4:3-4) . . .If, now, the good news we declare is in fact veiled, it is veiled among those who are perishing, 4 among whom the god of this system of things has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, that the illumination of the glorious good news about the Christ, who is the image of God, might not shine through.
You know there is a lot of good people out there, and they need to do what God said at Revelation 18:4

Dont generalize all religious folks because you have strict parents and have heard stories about priests. Im a Christain too, my parents are not and I can assure you, non christian parents beat their kids too. I have a son and I'll raise him to know right from wrong but Ill never abuse him. I grew up in Catholic school and was NEVER harmed by the priests or anyone there, my cousin however grew up in public school and was hit in the head with a chair by a teacher and was in the hospital for 2 weeks!! It's a shame that bad things happened to you and to other people and I feel for you. But dont make the mistake of blaming church or Christianity (I cant say anything for the Muslims or Mormons) blame horrible human choices that humans make themselves and find whatever excuse they want to do nasty things to others for their own gain.

I am going to address each of your issues---the ones you mentioned...
Mormans are a cult
Most catholics are very good people---including the priests. Maybe especially the priests. Some over-publicized perverts have made the news---that's why they call it news. It sells advertising
Most Muslims are moderate and are embarassed by their radical, ignorant bretheran, the jihadists
I have had occasion to beat my kid a couple of times, and the threat of future beatings has been a blessing to my son. I am very fortunate to have not been compelled to discipline my son physically more than a couple of times. He is now 15, very successful, an awesome kid, and he knows that if he crosses certain lines I will kick his butt again.

You need to study the Bible in a different way---not like a karate student studying anatomy---not the way a drunk uses a lightpost (for support, not illumination). try a different church---something mainstream, try a Presbyterian, Methodist, or Lutheran church. Find the good stuff. It's out there, my friend. Chew the hay and spit out the sticks.

1. the mormons have reformed. 2) these priests have a problem, and it has nothing to do with christianity. 3. muslims HAVE been responsible for millions of deaths (im not saying all muslims are terrorists, just that 99.9% of the terrorists are muslim 4. there is a difference between disciplin, punishment, and abuse. the bible does not condone abuse, you are misinterpretting it.

but i will agree that "religion" is corrupt. God and religion dont mix well. christianity should not be a religion. when it becomes a religion you get stuff like the crusades. people hide behind religion to justify their wrong-doings. true christianity is a relationship with God. if these people truly had a relationship with God and loved God, they wouldnt do these horrible things.

God Bless you...

Please remember that being Christian is about a relationship, not rules. Christians who use the Bible to beat up others (both literally and figuratively) are not following the teachings of Christ.

I personally believe in the right of a parent to spank a child. However, there is a difference between a spanking and a beating. I am sorry that you were beaten--that is NEVER right.

As for the other religions...most of them are built of laws of man and the foolish philosophies of man...not the perfection of God. To know the difference, read the Bible and let tehh Holy Spirit guide you, if you are saved. If you are not, then find a pastor and talk to him about your concerns.

God Bless you, and I hope that you find the answer you are looking for.

I'm christian and number 4 doesn't happen, thats just the individual and I'm not one of them. I go to church but not all the time because sometimes I can't make it. Even if your at church doesn't always mean your holy, no one is perfect. Some try to make it look like their perfect in people eyes, but when they're gone the do whatever. That's why you should try to be as faithful to God as possible, and forget the people who lie about being holy. Man too many paragraphs, I feel lost.

Been there, learned that, and know first hand that this is sad but true in many cases. Sorry for your experiences. Of course polygamy is no longer practiced by the official Mormon Church, and by no means are all Muslims into eradicating all Christians. For centuries various Christian groups have sought to replace other religions with their own in any way they can, including murder. I could go on and on. However, like Gandhi I do believe that there is a God or transcendence or whatever you would call "it" within us. I don't need to go to church to have someone direct me in how to live or treat my fellow humans. I believe that it is a lesson that is learned naturally, from the heart, or it is learned no where.

Muslims aren't responsible directly or indirectly for 9/11, Militant terrorist groups from the middle east are. Mormons banned polygamy in the late 1800's. Catholic priests abuse little boys, but so do teachers, cops and everyone else with power. Beating children has been around for centuries. All of you. Your convictions are bunk. I don't like organized religion but the reasons why you don't like it are completely humbug. Maybe you should become more educated about the world before you make posts that emphasizes your bigotry.
